Carlo Ancelotti suing Everton?!!

This feller walked out on Everton. Let;s not forget that. It's not like he was sacked.

I'd rather hang fire and get to know exactly what the dispute is about.

Too many people have an attitude now that Everton does everything wrong and even back those who are confronting us...be that other clubs like Burnley or Leeds, journalists, ex-players and - in this instance - an ex-manager.

If that is so Dave then he broke the contract and owes us.

It's an outrage.

The scumbag should have been on his knees thanking Everton they didn't stand in his way of another CL trophy.

Carlo Ancelotti: net worth $50M.

As said above: 'much wants more'.

The fact that this is likely to see the High Court should surely suggest that Carlo is fully expecting to win this.
Martinez would have won his case but setled for Β£10M and not the Β£12M he was owed.

It's all obscene amounts of cash like, but at least RM got real. Ancelotti is a rat.

Yes and no: if there was no case it wouldn’t be happening but equally if it was clear cut then Everton wouldn’t be racking up lawyer’s fees contesting so it clearly isn’t cut and dry.

I don't understand this.

Carlo told Everton he wanted to leave and Everton agreed a compensation package with Real Madrid.

Surely, wouldn't you think, by allowing him to leave mid-contract the club would have had him sign something to forfeit any bonuses he would otherwise have been due had he stayed? So now we've let him leave us in the lurch and actually allowed him to take us to the cleaners too despite him being the one walking out on us?

He would have forfeited bonuses to get the Madrid job. And if we refused a mutual severance, which it was as we agreed a deal with Madrid, and he was that desperate to join them, then he'd have resigned which in itself would have been enough to forfeit any further future monetary bonuses from the club.

I don't blame him like, if the club didn't have him sign anything he's fully entitled to go after it, but what an utter bunch of clowns not even ensuring we severed all ties with him once he left.

And that clearly is the point.

You've trotted out a load of assumptions and maybes, and then magically concluded that it's all the truth.

None of us know at this stage what the score is here. You could be right but you're almost certainly not mate.

What assumptions?

He didn't resign. That is a fact. If he resigned Everton would not have needed to speak with Real Madrid about compensation.

The rest of my post is just opinion
; 1 that he would have happily forfeited bonuses (resigned) to ensure he got his move back to Madrid, and 2 that the club would have had him sign away any future bonuses before he was done with us.

That's why managers don't resign any more. When was the last time a Premier League manager walked away from the job? They're all picking up millions to be fired or the club is getting compensated by the club the manager wants to go to.

But you're right that none of us know. One assumption I will make is that it'll turn out to be an extremely amateur error on Everton's part.

Think we’ll settle out of court anyway - he knows and we know he only has the mention the name Usminov and we will cave.
Indeed. Carlo will also be well aware of the concept of a horse's head in his bed if he rubs our Russian benefactor up the wrong way, so a settlement is on the cards...
