Seems he has definitely been made an offer, no surprise there, and has perhaps expressed more interest than anticipated.

We could end up being used, but that's a risk we have to take.

It isn't as complicated as Brexit, the salary won't be an issue and he'll already be roughly aware of what he would be getting himself into.

If there are serious talks, then it's about the details and not having to full-on convince him.
