Ancelotti stalling on Everton offer as he seeks transfer reassurances
DOMINIC KING AND ADRIAN KAJUMBA: Carlo Ancelotti is stalling on Everton's offer to bring him back to the Premier League as he seeks reassurances about the club's future plans.www.dailymail.co.uk
Carlo Ancelotti is stalling on Everton's offer to bring him back to the Premier League as he seeks reassurances about the club's future plans. Farhad Moshiri, Everton's major shareholder, is driving the pursuit of the Italian and has held talks with Ancelotti in London.
The length of the contract Moshiri is prepared to offer is unclear but it is understood the finance would be huge — in excess of £8million a year.
There have been conflicting reports in the last 48 hours about how close Ancelotti is to becoming Marco Silva's successor but he has sought guidance on what plans Everton have for the summer transfer window, as they will not spend heavily in January.
Ancelotti is also aware Everton's squad will need trimming following an expensive recruitment policy that has failed to pay dividends in the past four years.
He wants to know what control he will have, with director of football Marcel Brands currently in charge of transfers. Everton have spoken to a number of candidates since Silva was sacked two weeks ago.
David Moyes, the former manager, has had face-to-face talks with Moshiri.
Everton discussed their former player Mikel Arteta and have also considered Ralf Rangnick, while Vitor Pereira chose to stay at Shanghai SIPG.
Everton will now channel their energy into the Carabao Cup tie with Leicester on Wednesday night and interim manager Duncan Ferguson is demanding a bear- pit atmosphere at Goodison Park.
Ferguson said: 'We've not been to many semi-finals in this competition before and we've never won this cup. So we're not looking too far ahead, but we're desperate to get through.'
Will starstruck Everton never learn? Ancelotti is a vanity project
COMMENT BY DOMINIC KING: For a man who once described the North West as the 'Hollywood of football', appointing Carlo Ancelotti as his manager would represent nirvana for Farhad Moshiri.www.dailymail.co.uk
it’s almost like he’s upset about something.

We don’t know for sure of course but personally I really doubt he’d have taken the position if he was told he was bound to the current squad and would have no opportunity to shape the team to his liking. The understanding I had was that Everton is a long term project and Brands' model suits that. Buy young, develop, sell for profit whilst building a winning side. We all knew after the recent mess of Koeman and Walsh we were a 4-5 year project and hopefully this has been reiterated to Ancelotti as I hope he hasn't demanded a big chequebook and wants to overhaul the side.

disgraceful this, who is the right man then? We've tried them all, Silva/Koeman/Martinez, No one expects him to come in and we're suddenly a top 6 team we're hoping his vast experience can guide us along on the right path so we can stop being such a mess of a club, Great article that offers no alternatives yet complains Ancelotti isn't the right man. Will starstruck Everton never learn? At least we have are manger now....Been talking tosh all week about the blues has King. There are way too many other reputable sources saying the opposite of what he is saying to even care what his bee in his bonnet is all about tbh.
Its happening Kingy so best get used to it buddy.
King is doing quite a disservice to Ancelotti there, saying he isnt a good enough manager to get us up the table.
