Carlo Ancelotti

Remember lads, if you all start moaning and judging him from day one you will just be making your own lives miserable, and at the same time cramming the forum with negativity and giving us all eye AIDS for having to read it.

This is a long term project which isn’t going to be fixed overnight.

this guy knows success in a way we could only dream about, so any whiny early conclusions should be ignored as incredible gross stupidity.

All aboard the Ancelotti express, we have been truly blessed. The best Christmas present ever from EFC.
It's not a long term project though is it. Carlo ancelotti doesent do long term projects and hasn't done so since AC Milan when he had a side of legends.

People seriously need to look at the circumstances here.
At the start of next season most of the first team will be completely different

I know you don't mate.

You can still like the guy and say he's an exceptional manager but disagree that he's right for us, right now. It comes back to my 'horses for courses' argument. Whether you agree or not is upto you, I don't believe Guardiola would be able to seamlessly adapt to running a club like Tranmere. Just as Micky Mellon wouldn't be able to work with a team like City. Before anyone starts, I'm not saying we are the equivalent of Tranmere in this situation, I'm just giving an extreme to illustrate the argument.

Both teams very happy with their respective managers, both good managers at what they do, but there are different skills required to do different jobs. There are challenges that Mellon faces at Tranmere that are utterly alien to Guardiola that he's never had to deal with before, and vice versa.

And that is why Moyes was a great manager for Everton, given where we were and most importantly who the chairman was at the time. I doubt any manager could have done what he did with so little money.

He managed at a time when all Everton supporters wanted was to avoid relegation (he almost had us there one season too). The demands on an Everton manager were minmal and supporters were more forgiving.

Moyes would have been fired after his second season if he'd done it these days.

Ancelotti's appointment is seismic. Going through our managerial appointments it's difficult to suggest an equivalent. A poster earlier suggested Alan Ball. A magnificent signing but obviously a player and so not really relevant.

We constantly get told that only ex-Evertonians succeed at our club. There's an answer for that. The board are idiots and have hired managers who are ill-fitted or incompetent. We have a litany of successful managers we have passed over for reasons only known to the board members at the time.

Through sheer will of the support or luck and definitely the gargantuan efforts of the staff. We've won the league more than Chelsea and City combined. But as far as the board goes, even broken clocks get it right twice a day. But It's consistency that counts. Our board have been consistent in getting it wrong.

There isn't a recipe for success but successful clubs do something over and over again that leave their competitors in the dust. It starts from the top, demand success, demand trophies. If managers, players etc. don't deliver, they are replaced.

There's no room for sentimentality. Daglish, over the park took over for the second time, irrespective of his club status and his record, was sacked. Even after winning them a trophy. Ruthless and a mentality that screams we demand more.

One of the commentators last night suggested that prospective managers at Everton don't know what they are getting for, because the pressure is intense. Yes it is. And you know who applies that pressure, you and I.

So when Ancelotti steps into the dugout, the demands and expectations from the supporters won't be unfamiliar to him. What is essential is that, the board demands him to justify his salary. After all, this ain't his first rodeo let's see if it's our boards.
And the fans need to remember that were not going to win the league next season. Ancellotti will need a few years just to get us back in the top half safely.

Even if it’s a few seasons he establishes us, we move new grounds and then we are attractive for another high profile manager. It’s win win here end of

Really? So if the reports are true and it’s a 4 1/2 year deal, that’s not a long term project?

Are you just arguing for arguing sake, or are you really just a pathetic kopite trying to be contrary on an Everton forum?

He has never managed more then 2 seasons in his last 5 jobs.
His last 2 jobs he was sacked after 1 season,

The length of the contract just means he gets paid a wedge if he is sacked, hence his 200k+ a week pay packet

Whatever way it's dressed up, it's exciting and it's going to be one hell of a ride.

Much better to be overwhelmed and surprised by a legend joining us (even if he's not who i'd have chosen!) than to be utterly underwhelmed by a Pereira.

Will be great to get behind him, and if nothing else I'm hoping he'll place even greater demands not just on the players but on the hierarchy at the club - Brands, Moshiri, Kenwright et al.

If someone like Ancelotti speaks, you listen. In that respect, it's brilliant to have an authoritative, experienced hand guiding us. I'm still sceptical, I truly hope that he's given the tools he needs to do the business.

That doesn't look too bad if I'm honest. We'd deffo need an upgrade at a centreback position, possibly a new RB if we won't purchase Sidibe and a better right winger.

And of course a new CF if Kean won't fulfill his potential. DCL I think will be great under Ancelotti as he loves one of his forwards to do a dirty work for a poacher alongside him.

Have my doubts on Gomes and Gbamin as a partnership though.

And there we have it finally....a mildly optimistic post from Keiran! :celebrate:
