Carlo Ancelotti

Sacked by 6 of his 9 clubs.

Averages 19 months per role (excluding AC Milan).

No experience working at this level.

Rejected by top clubs in recent years.

Ancelotti is an exciting appointment. He’s one of the greatest managers of all time. But why is it so horrific to discuss these reservations in the same way we did with all the other suggested managers?
You have to put some of those sackings into context when you consider some of the bonkers club owners he's worked for.

Juventus: Sacked at half-time during the last game of the season (a match they won) when they were still in with a chance of winning the league. o_O

Chelsea: Won the double in his first season, league runners-up in his second, but sacked.

Real Madrid: Real won their first Champions League for 12 years in 2014, as well as the cup, and Ancelotti was voted FIFA coach of the year. Following season, league runners-up to Pep's brilliant Barcelona team who won all the trophies on offer, so he was sacked.

Bayern: Won the league in his first season and, if not for some very dodgy refereeing, would have beaten eventual winners Real in the Champions League QF. He was sacked a month into the following season after losing 3-0 to PSG in a CL group game.

Napoli: Sacked by bonkers owner after poor run in the league.

Even for the best managers, being sacked comes with the territory. Mourinho (4 times?), Simeone, Clough.....

To be fair i do wish some of our fans on social media would stop gloating and going on about how Liverpool fans are jealous, stuff like this always comes back to bite one in the anus. Plus Liverpool fans have nothing to be jealous of, they are the best club in the world at the moment and it's going to take multiple seasons of everything going close to perfect for us to get close to them, i hope it happens but im not gonna start crowing about how scared they are 4+ years in advance.

Thank christ someone else said this.

“Liverpool fans bricking it”

The absolute state.

Im genuinely caught between a heart and mental place on this one.

Its hard not to get excited, i like Anchelotti always have hes a football man and he gets the best out of players, he improves players, he will surely attract players who want to play for him. He has experience of the league, winning trophies in it and most surprisingly of all he seems to want to come. This raises the clubs profile massively and will make outside players, others managers and clubs, sit up and go, Everton you say. I didnt think he would come here if im being wholly honest and still wont until hes here, but it looks more then hopeful at this stage.

All that said, there is a part of me that thinks if something is to good to be true it usually is. I think we have a poor enough squad for what we invested in it, albeit a couple of nuggets in there, we are desperate to unload a few and our finances look 80 -100 mill in the red to me. How we are affording the numbers that are being bandied about in terms of his and his staff contracts are beyond me. I know many will say Usminov and even if that is the case, its trickier getting money from a wealthy shadowy owner into the club accounts then you might think. The squad needs investment and im not sure where the money for Carlo and all that is needed and looks promised in terms of squad investment is coming from. I also worry, is this a Hollywood appointment, maybe Everton need someone to build incrementally rather than someone to come in immediately and expect to get results and trophies. How will he fit in with the existing structure of Brands and or will we go total reboot on that again. The last time i remember the fan base this drunk on excitement was the summer of 17 and that proved to be the worst period of waste, undermining and shackling of the club in Everton history.

Then i think of the stability of the appointment, if top jobs become available, he will be inevitably linked and maybe there will be break clauses or compensation clauses in his contract in that scenario. Maybe that all unfair and what we have is a good man, coming to try and do a job, but im a cynic when it comes to football.

Generally im open minded and excited, maybe that is enough for now and need to just accept whats coming in terms of it being a good appointment on paper, despite reservations. Either way we look closer to white smoke, so no other choice but to be open minded and hope someone at the club knows what they are doing with the whole kit and caboodle.

Best club in the world and yet they sing about us every single week despite being about 30 points clear and when they were in the champions league final.

All the negative reactions to this are all from Kopites. Journalists and closets on here standing out like sore thumbs lol
This really has got to them, i dont get it, i would like to think if we were back to winning ways all we would care about is us but i think because the league is really dull now and there is no competition in it, its made it boring, so we are back to being the number one thing on their minds.

In his book he references being constantly hauled in to explain defeats and even victories Abramovich didn't like. He thought his style was too soft, not enough shouting.

The Media and I use that term very loosely are absolutely gutted that little Everton have managed to convince someone like ancelloti to be our manager. Amazing how when spurs paid mourinho £15m a year that was ok but for us to pay £11m is effectively bribery.
Its like when we went out and spent 50 large on the Brazilian and runined the window ahaha

Some of those are more ridiculous than I realized. The Chelsea one always confused me.

United used to sing about Liverpool when they were dominating the league every year, we're their local rival... if we suddenly got boss and they turn crap are you honestly suggesting some of our fanbase wouldn't be sticking the boot in ? It's a football rivalry, people always gonna disrespect their historical enemy.

Most media seem to be okay with us hiring Ancelotti and think it’s a great deal for us. The only journalists putting a negative spin on this seem to be those who support our local rivals lol
