My thoughts on this are -

Of what’s available to us he’s clearly the best choice.

However those who claim he would only have come if the project warranted it, need to remember that some of the biggest names in world football have plied their managerial skills in China, some for many years. Lippi is a good example of a world class manager who hung around there for the money. Therefore Ancelotti viewing this as a retirement fund is a possibility that cannot be discounted. Rather than demand new playing staff he may just take a back seat knowing that dismissal will likely merely result in his entire contract being paid up.

As for Moshiri - he has finally gone for a big name. The question is, if he is and always has been genuinely ambitious, why then did he pinpoint Marco Silva as an option? Or even the unproven Koeman. Hopefully this isn’t just a knee jerk appointment based on fan frustration and part of larger plan to bring a completely new playing staff to the club within 18 months. Because at present it’s by far the weakest group that Ancelotti has ever worked with bar his Reggiana days.

What if we're in the bottom three again this time next year?!

And as much as people like to think otherwise, managers are not magicians!

We tried to get Brands a year earlier, and he said he politely declined, but recommended Silva as a manager for us.
