Of all the managers we've been linked with, Ancelotti is by far the most exciting prospect.

Different league to some of the no marks that want the job.

Fair points indeed. Although it would be a nice concern to have, how he would do if he actually took the job.

It seems a strange one. I'm sure he would want assurances over the transfer budget at a time when we may soon be seeking to begin construction at BMD and despite last summers spending, there was far more of a balanced budget overall.

He's worked mainly in structure where he is head coach rather than manager. I wonder how much input he has in transfers. I suspect it's some but not necessarily the final decision maker.

I think he'd want assurances that there would be investment in the squad.

Still think there's a significant risk with Ancelotti since he's not really managed a team like Everton. Even going back 20 years to his Parma days he had a squad of superstars (Thuram, Buffon, Crespo, Cannavaro etc..). Regianna was his 1st managerial team but then again they aren't comparable.

I think Ancelotti is a great manager and would be an appointment that got people to sit up and take notice. It would also re-energise and bring together the supporter base in a way that most of the other potential candidates wouldn't. However, despite his reputation it would still be a massive risk (if we could pull off convincing him to come). The 'plug and play' Ancelotti that has had success at various clubs over the last 20 odd years wouldn't necessarily work here. Mainly because the squad doesn't need tweaks. It needs an entire rebuild.

Im probably just too suspicious of our board to make it look like they’re going after unattainable managers so they can fall back on Moyes and say at least they tried.

Is Ancelotti realistic? Probably not, and in an ideal world, is he what we need? No.

However... he's undoubtedly one of the best tacticians around, and in normal times we'd jump at the chance to have a manager of his stature. If he was here for a few seasons, steadied the ship, attracted some bigger name players and got us into Europe again, could we really ask for more considering where we are now?

The man knows how to run a big club, change the mentality of the club and we start from there.

This is something like how I feel. We've lost our identity. We need that back. He could give us it, he will also attract better players.

Looking at his CV he is used to winning.
We need that winning mentality.
