Some miserable sods on here. No wonder we haven't won anything in 20 odd years. That negative energy translates from fan to club to players. Stop it FFS!
I know what you mean negativity is tedious, and the match threads hurt my eyes just reading them (same for all teams though)! But...
Although I was proud and happy for Dunc, and thought the team deserved credit for fighting back the other night, I said to my Dad (a Liverpool supporter) after the game,
for god sake, can the football gods not shine on me for a change, just once?
It was just so perfectly typical of what always seems to happen with Everton! Most teams (playing against us) fight back from 2 nil and go onto win, but when we fight back it's all just engineered to make losing more painful! Leicester miss the first penalty, and we miss the first 2...
I don't mean to be negative about the new manager, I
am hopeful, but if I am honest it's hard after 36 years and only one FA cup win in all that time, to go skipping down the street.
Everybody being happy and hopeful kinda makes me feel apprehensive! Rather, like what happened in the game the other night, expectations are rocketing into orbit, but part of me feels kinda like,
don't get your hopes up this time! Expect the worst and hopefully, be pleasantly surprised.
Strange thing is that as an Evertonian, the national teams failures, and disappointments also get incorporated into a general feeling of pessimism about football in general. England, and Everton are almost synonymous!
Starts to seem as if I myself am a bad luck charm to whatever team that has the misfortune to be supported by
me!
