Here's a thought.... have most of the players had a sense that their time is up?

Let's be honest.... Ancelotti was not bought here and accepted a position of managing this group of players and getting them to top 4. He was likely told he will be backed in getting rid. The players will know...

Being gutless cowards, half of them just surrendered. Like they do away from home or when they go behind.

Carlo needs to set Dunc loose, which I think he has. I think he has identified him as his enforcer and he will be the decision maker.

If so, there is no motivation for said same players to perform any differently over the coming days. Tough love needed. Over to you Mr Ferguson.

Genuinely feel a bit bad that I took my frustrations out on Silva and wanted him sacked. I knew it was this squad of cowards that were the main issue but I suppose someone had to take the flack for it.

Ancelotti is no Silva, though, he is a heavyweight and these cowards are no match for him.
Yep agree
I think most people knew Silva was a decent fella, but didn’t have the backbone/experience or respect to get this group of players in line.
Ancelotti will, as he has all of the above, importantly he also has the backing of the fans

I do laugh over the comments on here of the players respecting Silva....

I hate the players like everyone else but why does everyone just automatically believe this story about them blaming him. Let’s face it, the chances are it’s BS.

Still hope he torches the useless rats

We'll see, indeed it could be perfect pantomime spin to calm us all down. And get the focus on the management, so to let the player's play (cough) football, I suppose the squad at the weekend will be telling. Without any major changes to line up I doubt there has been any cathartic high spirited yellings, I Just won't buy 6 day turn round of complete break down and back on board with project.

If any players have gone against Carlo and Duncan not only would it confirm their lack of commitment and little passion, I would add stupidity to the name calling.

There will just have to be a more effective attempt at establishing and maintaining unity. And that word again, leadership.

I'm talking about players and management here, and senior figures at the club.

I know people are understandably tired of empty soundbites and that's not what we need, but anything that conveys disharmony and projects that image of the club is harmful. It's also particularly unfortunate so soon into the tenure of the manager that this storm has been unleashed, alhough you could say it has been coming.

The incident with Coleman and Holgate arguing with Liverpool fan(s) reflects badly on both of them, and badly on the club on social media. All the energy wasted when it should have been channelled during the game. And Delph should now better than to engage like he did too.

I hope and expect calm heads will prevail and we can move on to the Brighton game, get a result, and let Ancelotti and Brands focus on their work.

But something has to come of this result and experience. There is a lot of value if lessons are learned, and mistakes are not repeated, and sooner or later the club has to realise this.

Strange how the players have seemingly revolted just when we get the most accomplished manager we’ve ever had.

They must have had such an easy ride under Silva.
Silva was too soft with them and they hid behind him letting him take all the abuse.they can’t do that with ancelotti and Ferguson and they don’t like it,they’ve been found out cos the biggest problem is them and has been all season they are spineless they are not committed enough to this club and show no passion, the fact they didn’t even come over to us fans(except sidibe and holgate) after that game on Sunday tells you everything u need to know about them

I had said previously that I felt MS was not strong enough for some of the high profile characters in the squad.
I remember reading somewhere just after MS dropped Sigurdsson that he would be at the managers door in the morning demanding to be played or to be transferred and sure enough he was back in the team next week.
Duncan Ferguson largely bypassed midfield because I believe he knew their limitations, I think CA has a better understanding of them now.

However, I am not sure there will be radical changes in this window, we cannot afford to lose any more midfielders without replacing them first and even though we would love to simply boot a couple of players out of the club finances dictate otherwise.
I believe that some players are now playing not for this club but to gain a move to another and they will be given some games to allow them do just that.

Next Saturday however is a challenge, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin and Delph in particular will not get a good reception and if the game is going badly they will get abuse like we have not seen for quite some time.

Stability is a much underrated condition few of us like to be taken out of our comfort zone especially if the wheels fall off and you look even more of a bell as a result the Liverpool game being a monstrous example. But it happened under Martinez the Moyes boys were never on board with his revolution and sure enough downed tools when the opportunity presented. Fortunately this low point has happened early on and if Carlo has the money to weed them out we can look forward to better things sooner rather than later

The club went all out balls deep to get Ancelotti
They even had Usmanov have a meeting with him.
I am sure he was given guarantees on a whole host of things
Money to spend
Sell who he wants
Keep who he wants
Academy changes etc
After the mess since Moyes the club have no option but to keep Carlo for the full 4 and a half years , because after him it’s all downhill as regards managerial appointments unless we win the league or go far in CL
I know lads are banging on about financials but I’m sure Moshiri and Usmanov have a plan in place to free up funds for Carlo to spend.
I’m not sure how and it will probably be borderline legal but there is no way Carlo would have taken over this shitshow without guarantees
