He gets 0% of the blame even until the end of next season as he's going to be forced to continue with many of the abject failures signed before he arrived. He may get able to bring three or four players in, but that still leaves him having a play at least four or five of the current crop who are championship material at best. I'd go as far to say he probably only genuinely believes Richarlison is any good and would happily sell the rest of them if it were humanly possibly, Digne and Gomes included.

One of these things is not like the other.

I struggle to blame that on Carlo. It felt like everyone apart from our midfield put in the effort tonight. But that midfield was so bad that it gave Mourinho a chance to do what he does best- coast to a 1 nil win.

If we didn’t concede that fluky goal, I’m not sure we lose this game. Having said that, pitiful and embarrassing display from Sig/Iwobi/Gomes/Davies.

Ancelotti has seen first hand now in the games against Liverpool Reserves, Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs just how pathetic this squad of players is.

Some of them should never get the chance to wear the shirt again.

it’s an abysmal squad it really is. Some of them just have no professional pride what so ever. The scary thing is that with Holgate Digne Richarlison and now Gordon the squad has actually improved in recent years but is still this bad!

Siggurdson Keane Pickford Coleman Davies Bernard are not good enough for where we want to go. Who knows with Iwobi but his current effort is awful. Gomes doesn’t seem to have gotten vie this injury so I’ll sit for next season. The first five names particularly though have shown time and time again that they either don’t want to put the effort in (Siggurdson Pickford) or do but just a rent good enough (Davies Coleman Keane).

Can't possibly have a go at Carlo based on what he has inherited.

These should be the only players considered safe to be in the squad next year

Richarlison
DCL
Gordon
Holgate
Gomes (benefit of doubt)
Gbamin
Digne
Keane (only if he continues his good post lockdown form)
Mina (only if we get another CB in)

The rest are [Poor language removed]

Agree with all the comments on giving Carlo a chance to bring in his own players, he's clearly got ability of a manager we've not had for a long time.

However some things that concern me:
Sigurdsson: why does every manager we have try to shoe horn him into the team. He isn't a bad sub late in games when there's some space but he is a horrendous starter and has been all season.
The formation: the midfield isn't working both wide and centrally with the players we've got and despite Carlo making some in game changes we largely start the same most games.

Would like to see something like
-----------DCL
Gordon -------richarlison
----------iwobi
---Gomes--davies (would like to see someone else tried here like Beni but don't see it happening)
digne, holgate, mina/Keane, Coleman
pickford

Keane will crumble again in front of the fans. He can't cope with the goodison crowd.

He needs his own players - if anything his tenure has highlighted just how poor the squad is. Before he came we could put a lot of it down to having a crap manager, but that's no longer the case.

The issues are completely with horrendous recruitment.

Unless that is addressed, the same demons will continue to haunt us.

It's not on Carlo, but a statement win, under difficult circumstances, would have been really nice.

I thought two things after the game;

1) I actually had genuine sympathy for Marco Silva. A relatively novice manager having to deal with a squad this limited.

2) Two years of transfers under Marcel Brands. The results? The weakest midfield I've seen in almost 40 years in supporting Everton and a team by and large that continues to look afraid of its own shadow against opponents like Spurs.

Brands will continue, but if we have anything like the summer this year we had last then Ancelotti is also finished before he started. Brands will slay a lot of managers here if he can't buck up his ideas considerably.
