2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Ancelotti deserves no criticism until he has had the chance to sign his own players. Even Fat Sam was given money to waste on Tosun and Walcott.
Putting Ancelotti and Allardyce in the same post got me thinking how similar their tactics have been.

There’s a difference between tactics by design, and tactics by circumstance.

Sam would build a team into the most effective version of his negative tactics.

Carlo is using what he has to get the most out of them. With some time and money he’ll have us competing just like he’s managed with every club he’s been at.

Ancelotti is to some extent a pragmatist, but he is also a product of the Italian football school. In just about every club he has been to, supporters have complained about boring football. So don't expect any fireworks, but we can get good results anyway.

There is no manager that would do anything with this squad of players! Sorry, but it is going to be a long time before I can enjoy watching my team! Nothing to do with this thread, but sad to see one of my idols - BIG JOE - involved in the mess at Wigan.

Done the best he can with these clowns. He’s got 4/5 good players and one of those is a 19 year old kid. The rest would struggle to get into any other premier league teams. That’s the issue we have. If you went to Norwich and said ‘would you like Davies Siggurdson Coleman Keane’ they’d say no. Norwich are bottom of the premier league and that’s half our first team. He needs Gbamin and Walcott back fit as a minimum and then needs 4 or 5 signings on top of that just to get to an ok first 11. It’s a long long job.

Can't possibly have a go at Carlo based on what he has inherited.

These should be the only players considered safe to be in the squad next year

Richarlison
DCL
Gordon
Holgate
Gomes (benefit of doubt)
Gbamin
Digne
Keane (only if he continues his good post lockdown form)
Mina (only if we get another CB in)

The rest are [Poor language removed]
If Gbanim breaks down again that'll probably be that,so planning ahead with him in the equation is risky at best.

Walcott is just as bad as the rest of them.

"Boring" in football is funny really. We were boring last night for sure.

What's exciting is winning games and he'll win plenty of games for us.

Do not agree. In that case, we could just simulate all the matches, and then sum it up. There must be something between the beginning and the end.

Yeah of course, but the result tends to be the decider in fan happiness.

Even managers that play "attractive football" have boring games.

CA is Italian and appreciates defending as much as attacking. I think he is establishing the platform of the team he wants to develop.
He has to add players in certain areas, and with each game it is more obvious where.
