Player Valuation: £90m
Realistically it will take Ancellotti two seasons to fashion a team capable of challenging the top tier .
During that time there may well be missteps, misjudgments and failures.
In that context it does us no good to make the manager an infallible Demi-god like figure incapable of mistakes and immune from criticism instead directing all our frustration onto the players he is trying to build into a functioning team. This is especially the case when we are finally allowed to attend the games again.
Rather it is important we excercise a certain forbearance and understanding of the task facing all at the club.
After all ,Rome wasn’t built in a day.
as long as there is long term progress we need to stay behind the manager. Like you said there will be dips but just a few games ago we were within an inch of beating both Leicester and Liverpool. We’ve also won more away from home in these run of games than we did when we went 12 months without an away win.
I’d like to see the little milestones ticked off by Carlo over the next few seasons. Get us back into Europe, get us back into the latter stages of cup competitions, win a derby, an away win at the top 6, more than 5 away wins per season, most of the players in the squad playing at or above their absolute not miles below it. If we can do that then in a couple of seasons time we might hit be able to take the next step and look at winning trophies or the top 4. We can’t just go from a relegation scrap though to challenging at the top unless we do what Leicester did and somehow unearth a Kante and Mahrez two world class players for buttons in the same transfer window.
