I’ll be honest I’ve no idea why we have stuck with 4-4-2 when we don’t have 2 midfielders mobile enough to make it work.
When was the last time we genuinely looked like the much better side in a game of football?

The defence and front two have looked better as a 442. But the whole midfield hasn't.

I know most of us have rightly slaughtered the 2 CMs but the wide options have been just as poor. Think we would be better suited playing a Diamond or 4222.

Iwobi doesn't look comfortable as a RW in a 442. And Bernard looks just as bad at LW.

what formation would genuinely work? Whatever we play we're still gonna have a gaping hole in the middle.

We have had about 25 managers and 2 DoF in the last 4 years.

Its a mess, with Silva I was crying out for stability and I think that's the reason he was retained for so long.

We simply MUST get some stability.

From what I read, Brands wanted Silva to stay just because of that. Gave it the last possible moment and I don't think Silva fought his own case to stay.

That and I'm pretty sure Carlo was being contacted in or around that time...it was time to roll the dice

Carlo saying he expects funds to be delivered this summer and rightly so. Feels like a bit of a shot across the bows to make sure he gets it.

By God he needs it and deserves it - but ny worry is brands has already said there won't be money unless we sell this summer.

Not one of these players are his. Let’s look at what he’s done already with a squad that isn’t his

- The first manager brave enough since Moyes 04/05 to regularly play a formation other than 4231/433. Even if it’s not working he hasn’t shifted back to 4231 just to cater to Sigurdsson or our slow midfielders. He’s set his stall out with a formation that Everton fans have been calling for for ages and gets the best out of best player Richarlison.

- He’s made Mason Holgate first choice central defender because of his ability on the ball. Something fans could see for a while but previous managers would not give him an extended run in the team either sending him on loan or constantly rotating him. Carlo took ten minutes to make the defence Holgate plus another

- He got Calvert Lewin scoring. Yes he’s not slotted since the restart but his best form in an Everton shirt has been under Ancelotti.

- He’s had more away wins in the games he’s had than some Everton managers have had in a whole season.

- our set pieces are far better

- he’s destroyed the myth of Sigurdsson as a guaranteed starter and dropped him numerous times

- He sold Morgan Schneiderlin

- HE SOLD MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN

- He’s already called out the players and especially Pickford for unacceptable performances. That’s something previous managers didn’t do often enough.

- He’s brought through Gordon and Branthwaite and given them proper game time in the league. Apart from Davies no Everton manager has bothered with the youth players we’ve had. Most have even kept Holgate and Calvert Lewin out the teams at times.

He’s doing all the things that as fans we’d want. I can’t fault him for the majority of decisions he’s made but his hands are tied by injuries and the players available until the transfer window opens.
meanwhile Arteta is absolutely ripping it up at Arsenal, they have a style of play, are organised, and have direction, meanwhile this clown talks up Tom Davies and persists with Iwobi, neither has signed players but in terms of direction, organisation, and progress only one winner

This Clown?

Yikes.

Doesnt seem like the clown likes the look of the squad.

'I have an opinion about the squad, it doesn't matter that we are not in Europe, it doesn't matter we didn't play well in this period in the last two or three games,' he said.

'The opinion of the squad is pretty clear in this moment but we want to finish well the last two games and then be focused to try to improve the squad for the next season,' he said.

'At this moment we are looking for the quality of player we need to improve the squad next season.

'When the season is finished I think we will talk together to find the right solution for this.

'I think the board is going to support me, the team. We have a similar idea that the team has to improve.'

Blah, Blah, Blah, they virtually took over their respective clubs at the same time, not too much disparity in the quality of the respective squads with a startling difference in outcomes.

Ancelotti wasn’t left a squad containing Aubameyang Lacazette Pepe Ozil Ceballos Xhaka Tierney Luiz and 5 or 6 top academy players.

Lol. They have a front three costing 160 million (that’s an average price higher than we’ve ever paid for anyone). They have a player being paid 300k a week. They’ve won 3 of the last 5 FA cups, have made the semi and final of europa in consecutive seasons, as well as the league cup final, and are once again in another FA Cup final.

But yeah, there’s nothing between that squad and Everton with their back to back top 8 finishes.

Oh really.

Everton finished last season 8th, Arsenal finished last season 5th and as Europa League runners up.

How you can say there's not much disparity in Arsenal and Everton I really do not know.

Arsenal have played 18 games under Arteta and won 8 games
Everton have played 18 games under Carlo and won 7 games

But hey, ifs that's a startling difference, fair play to ya.

you are letting the stats delude you, surely you can see with your own eyes the difference in progress on the pitch between the 2 teams, don't forget everyone saw Arsenal as a team we should be over taking if we were to become relevant again. since Carlo came in, beaten by Liverpool kids, dry bummed at Chelsea ,lost at Arsenal, lost at Spurs, embarrassed at Wolves, if anything we have gone backwards, we got dry bummed at Anfield as well under Carlo … just the 5...…. again, absolutely nothing has changed

Marco Silva was sacked after we lost at Anfield mate.

But hey, don't let that take anything away from your rant.
