The short pass thing is frustrating at times, but the problem is, you hoof it long, DCL or Richarlison win it, the midfield dont get up to support comes straight back, at least short passing might allow us to get the ball down the wing and keep possession a bit longer. No matter what system or style Carlo wants to play it is impossible if you have a midfield that is immobile, or cant complete basic 5 yard passes unless they are backwards.

Think performances picked up when he came in- new manager bounce etc, but effort has now fallen off a cliff from most players. I’d like to think that is because they have been told they have no future here as their agents have been told to find new clubs for them.
I’m really hoping that’s the case.

The football has been pretty shocking if we are being honest.

It has but that´s largely been down to the players. Unless we´re in serious threat of relegation Ancelotti needs the next 3 seasons to create his team. Is he capable of it? Is the money there? Will he have the patience? Obviously no one can say at this point. What we do know is it´s by far the most difficult job he´ll have had since the start of his career. The dearth in quality of the squad and the competitive nature of the league mean it´s going to be an uphill struggle - it could end up being that his skill set isn´t suitable for the situation we´re in.

People need to remember this club doesn´t start and end with Carlo Ancelotti though. If it doesn´t work, and it might not, we´ll go out and get another manager and try again.

The real works starts now. He's had 6 months to assess what we had and more importantly what we need. We'll see what he's made of.

I can’t see many Ancelotti out brigade on here. Just a few criticisms so far. He should be judged in a year or so.
We knew we needed some players in and Carlo gets his chance to have his say in the transfer market.
There’s many on here it seems who just say that he’s immune to all criticism and should just be installed as a god like figure before he’s actually done anything for us. There’s others who are just seeing the same performances that got Marco silva and Koeman sacked. The answers probably somewhere in the middle. When we got CA I think we all knew we needed players but I don’t believe that everyone didn’t think he could improve our team better than to oversee some absolute shockers and then consistently say theres
no desire or motivation from his players. I mean our points tally has improved but allardyce got us to 8th with a worse squad than this and was hounded out. Carlo so far has proven that he can set a team up in some games and others not so much. He’s never done a complete rebuild before and has always been the arm round the shoulder to get the best out of better players type manager. Players who generally win. This is new territory for
him and we need to see how he does. He seems to be in tune with the clubs traditions and says the right things so let’s hope he produces.

We have a winner.

But our midfield isn’t mobile enough to get up as they have to sit deep as we can’t play a high defensive line with Keane. He’s too slow for that.
