He came through the youth ranks as a player as well for a famous Italian Club. I bet you can't guess who it was ?

Strangely enough when Carlo left Milan. Davide ended up in the 5th tier of Italian football at Borgamero and then retired at the age of 20.

Ok. I'm struggling to see the relevance mate?

Lots of people who play at tier 5 level can still be good coaches.

The relevance is that whilst Carlo was at Milan then Davide played for the youth teams. When his Dad left he was bombed out and couldn't even make it in basically none League football.

He then got jobs at PSG, Madrid, Bayern, Napoli and Everton when his Dad became manager of said clubs. It is Nepotism pure and simple.

The problem is we can only really point to the results as signs of progress and they are slowing withering away. What is left if we finish 8th or 9th? What can we say we did this season that shows we're on the right track?

Shipped out several poor players.
Bought 2 or 3 good players.
Won at Anfield.
Competed on the pitch with sides we've struggled against for years.
Showed an ability to turn round poor form instead of spiralling out of control and just getting worse. Failure to do that did for Martinez, Koeman and Silva.

Progress isn't linear. A new manager having a weird inconsistent season and struggling against perceived weaker opposition isn't that unusual, especially when the squad is a mishmash of failed previous regimes.

It can be both nepotism and not a big deal

His main crime has been messing about with the system following the GP derby.

Should have stuck with the 433 regardless of the goals we were shipping at least we would have out scored the likes of Palace, Leeds, Burnley, Fulham, Palace.

He's a tinkerman and unless you have a squad like Man City or Real Madrid you cant build a platform for success with constant changes.

You only get better at something by repeating it - not tearing it up and replacing it soon as we get an injury or suspension.

Maybe its a simple case of the fact its his first full season. A transitional season so hes looking for different approaches which will benefit the side in future.

But if you take Doucore and Allan out of that 433 it becomes quite a different thing and no amount of repetition makes it better. Tonight's disappointing result wasn't about the wrong system but forwards not taking very good chances.
