2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

Serious question. Who would we get to replace Carlo if that day comes?

This mythical manager that some people think will sustain a top 4 challenge with the slowest team in the league, constant injuries to all our best players, and have us doing it playing a front foot style of sweeping attacking football.

I dread to think where we might have been this season without Carlo. Probably in another bottom half scrap round where Wolves are. Players like Keane Pickford Coleman Davies Siggurdson have actually had ‘good’ seasons for them. That’s the scary thing. They’ve been nowhere near good enough but imagine I’d they’d been putting in what they did under Koeman Allardyce and Silva. We’d be bottom half again easily.

It’s because of the squad depth why he tinkers, because it’s been hampered by injuries, for every game we have James and Mina back, we lose Allan and Doucoure

A normal season and we don’t change up as much

The problem is mate we always get injuries and likely always will - why I couldn't tell you but personally I've said for a while I dont think our medical/physio team cut the mustard considering the sheer amount of injuries we pick up in routine training compared to the other 19 PL clubs.

Without Europe we wont be able to build a squad of quality as which top class CM will be happy sitting on the bench watching Allan and Doucoure play every week so its a double edged sword really.

Are you saying he gets a free pass until he gets a season where we have no injuries? Because that's never going to happen. The home form is disgusting and his inability to change it is incredibly concerning. I thought he was supposed to be this world class manager yet he can't even get his players up for any game at home.

Ancelotti can be blamed for many of the home defeats/slip ups, but not yesterday. Not his fault Richarlison and DCL missed so many chances.

This isn’t a case of wanting ancelotti out or anything like it. As usual there’s 1 or 2 posters who take that line and everybody knows full well that they can be ignored - and whatever they say on any other subject is ignored - but it suits people to make out like their comments are representative on this because they can make out like anyone questioning decisions is deranged.

The lengths some people will go to to absolve ancelotti of any blame whatsoever are just weird. This run of home form is truly awful, the football is dire (although better last night to be fair) and the constant desire to just hold what we have, despite almost never looking comfortable doing it, is just maddening. It doesn’t mean he can’t succeed here, it doesn’t mean we’ve ‘turned’ but being honest after 16/17 months of him at the helm I’m no clearer on the direction we’re heading in. It’s burying your head in the sand to just say it’s fine because of his record elsewhere. We can have faith that he’ll turn it round - we don’t have much choice - but it’s blind faith truth be told. There’s very little evidence on the pitch that we’re getting closer.

A very well balanced and fair post, although no doubt you’ve been marked down as one of the Ancelotti Out clan because of it.

if you look at Man Utd v Brighton game - utd had 58% possession, 15 shots at goal and limited Brighton to only 5 shots

they control games

if you compare our game v Brighton - brighton had 57% possession and 11 shots at goal and we only had 11 shots at goal

our style of play currently allows the opposition free reign at our goal

even before palace scored olsen had to save a few long range yarders

we don't close down enough and our passing is far too shoddy

No that’s not what I’m saying at all, I’m saying in a normal season the chances of our injury list decreases so we can play a settled team more, we haven’t had that in months

But why do we sit back so much and let are opponents have the ball in the last 20?. This is every game this happens aswell. Plus it was him that made those changes, every fan on here knew what was gonna happen!.

Is he not a top manager himself? o_O
Like Mourinho, his reputation is diminishing season by season.
When these guys are managing world super stars who self motivate themselves, the question is always asked
" But could they do it further down the leagues with inferior players"
I think with Mourinho and Ancellotti we are getting the answer.
