I’m also pretty sure we were 17th or around that when Silva got the boot so to go from that to fighting for Europe in one weird covid season with only one summer transfer window is pretty impressive tbh

But that position was in no way reflective of the quality of the squad, hence him getting sacked. The majority of players in the squad have finished 7th and 8th with us in the last few years, the rest have been signed since Ancelotti came in. I don't think anybody would have been happy with a bottom half finish last season when the season started, there's no need to make out like the team was dire because it wasn't.

People see Tuchel walk into Chelsea and instantly turn them around, and they want to see that here, while forgetting that Tuchel walked into a full squad with a wealth of options.

it’s about opinions obviously - but I don’t get people calling for Carlo to go when he’s not even got more of his own players in yet

This doesn't have much meaning in the grand scheme of things. It is far easier for those kind of teams to go to Chelsea etc. and nick wins as the complacency can set in that they just need to turn up to get the 3 points. I've always said one of the reasons we have won bugger ye all is we sit right in the middle where we don't (didn't) have the players to challenge the top teams but we had enough talent and our name forces the other teams to not take it lightly. Swansea/Birmingham and Wigan etc. could fly under the radar, I'm pretty sure during our quarter final with the latter that we honestly believed our quality would win the day without first matching the intensity and the iron will to win first.

If BFS had taken us to Chelsea I think 9 out of 10 times the result ends the same, we'll face a team that are pumped up and ready to play at a high level and that makes it hard to get something from these games.

Also look at the teams that are on the WBA level who have taken the points off us, far too many which we should have been beating.
