Saint Domingo
Player Valuation: £90m
That may be true Saint but it’s not much consolation to be honest.
Consolation for what? The last three full seasons have seen Koeman fired for having us in relegation trouble, Allardyce let go, Steve Walsh let go, then a complete nothing season under Silva, then a season where Silva was fired for again having us in relegation trouble.
This season we’ve competed for Europe from day one and made a decent showing in both domestic cups all whilst missing a lot of our best players at times.
What exactly do people need consoling for? It’s undeniable progression. Let’s face it if Keane Holgate and Davies hadn’t have been so individually terrible against Burnley Palace Spurs and Villa then europe would be sewn up by now and we’d probably be favourites for top 4. That’s the position Carlo has manoeuvred us into. Did he make Keane put two on a plate for Kane in a game we otherwise bossed? No. Did he make Holgate or Davies inexplicably dally on the ball to give goals to Burnley and Villa? No. Did he make Keane wander out of the penalty area for no reason in the last minute agaisnt Palace after they’d barely had a sniff all game and our strikers missed sitters? No.
The players have let us down it’s that simple. Carlo’s tactics, whether people like them or not, transformed us from a club that was going nowhere the last three seasons to one that should have easily been in the top 4 now if it wasn’t for some utterly brain dead moronic players.
