That may be true Saint but it’s not much consolation to be honest.

Consolation for what? The last three full seasons have seen Koeman fired for having us in relegation trouble, Allardyce let go, Steve Walsh let go, then a complete nothing season under Silva, then a season where Silva was fired for again having us in relegation trouble.

This season we’ve competed for Europe from day one and made a decent showing in both domestic cups all whilst missing a lot of our best players at times.

What exactly do people need consoling for? It’s undeniable progression. Let’s face it if Keane Holgate and Davies hadn’t have been so individually terrible against Burnley Palace Spurs and Villa then europe would be sewn up by now and we’d probably be favourites for top 4. That’s the position Carlo has manoeuvred us into. Did he make Keane put two on a plate for Kane in a game we otherwise bossed? No. Did he make Holgate or Davies inexplicably dally on the ball to give goals to Burnley and Villa? No. Did he make Keane wander out of the penalty area for no reason in the last minute agaisnt Palace after they’d barely had a sniff all game and our strikers missed sitters? No.

The players have let us down it’s that simple. Carlo’s tactics, whether people like them or not, transformed us from a club that was going nowhere the last three seasons to one that should have easily been in the top 4 now if it wasn’t for some utterly brain dead moronic players.

Only city and Liverpool were above us on paper at the start of the season. 3rd and 4th was up for grabs.
We should of been competing against the rest.
Would you say different?
Well if we are making stuff up to back up our agenda. I'll say the only 2 squads better then us on paper were West brom and Sheffield United.

Well if you put it like that - I'm in...(I pretty much always was really.)

It is integral to a managers job to produce the best performances from the players in his charge, it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
Under Ancelotti ,despite a promising start , we remain in mid table, so for me there has been little real improvement on previous seasons.
I expect and hope Ancelotti will be here for the foreseeable future but the fact is next season has to see some tangible progression or he may run out of time.

It's right that Ancellotti is a focal point after bad performances.... He is the manager.

But it's also right that we look at the team and realise that 70% of them had our club heading for the championship.

If the 4 players bought in on his watch were as poor as the rubbish he inherited then I would be saying something totally different. Those players if/when together make us look a different outfit. That's also considering the fact that we need striking options.

He needs time. It's all very well looking at other clubs and managers and thinking they would do better with our team......they might in the short term but there is a high level of disappointment and let down in players like Gylfi and Gomes. They play in the most critical position when it comes to controlling football matches..... And they simply don't do it.

He’s going to ring changes I feel today, said it in the match thread but I can see (or at least I hope) Mina, Keane, Doucoure, Davies and King all starting

So after all these mistakes and poor play, starting matches slowly and starting second half’s the same way, the continual poor passing and weak tackling all season he has finally cottened on to all these obvious deficiencies and had a go at them with five games left in the season, it’s not all down to the players, although they play a big part in it, Carlo is not immune from blame, how many times have they come out in the second half, after a very poor performance in the first half, and carried on in exactly the same way, how many times have we been waiting for substitutes to be used, only for them to come too late and even making the performance worse instead of better.

We all know he inherited a very poor squad that needs plenty of changes but some of things he has done leave a lot to be desired.

And then there is this too.

Unless things are going extremely bad and quite obvious things aren’t working then I always feel any manager deserves at least 2 full seasons before judgement (apart from Allardyce).

Its been a very strange season for all teams bar City & our home form has really cost us.

After seeing Martinez, Koeman, Silva & Allardyce of which none were qualified or good enough to take the job I’m more than happy to give one of the greatest managers in football another season before I judge. I really can’t be ars3d with more Eddie Howe shouts.

I’m actually quite excited to see which players will be brought in this summer and just as eager to see which will be moved on.
