Point 1 for me in this is absolutely huge. Tosun is a prime example of this. A player brought in for big money under Walsh on a high wage. We finally had a deal lined up to sell him to Paalace, get his wages off the book, bank some FFP profit, and he does his cruciate. Immediately that throws out a massive part of our transfer jigsaw. We then keep paying him for another season to rehabilitate he goes on loan, we get into the same opportunity again, and just as we would look to sell him this window he gets injured again.

Gbamin has not contributed since he’s arrived due to injury. Mina has also been far too inconsistent. Gomes has had his career ruined by serious injury. Besic another one never the same after an ACL. Coleman Oviedo all shattered their legs as well.

Even in the youth ranks this season has just been player after player falling foul of serious injuries. We can’t then sell them, they can’t play for us, they might not be as good in the future, but we keep paying them.

100s of millions of pounds worth of assets we can’t afford to lose are being flushed down the drain because we are absolutely cursed by injuries. Until this clears up it is just going to take longer and longer for us to drag ourselves out of this hole we’re in.
Yeah
There are too many things going wrong for the injuries, rehab and then the match by match fitness of the players for it to just be bad luck. Even if our game is not high pressing high energy, we need the fitness to be able to defend and attack and concentrate for 95 mins.

Get Marcel on the phone boss and tell him to get his finger out. I reckon Carlo has finished the season and wondered what the hell has just happened. Welcome to the mid table boss where players need babysitting and their hands holding to make sure they get motivated to play.

"Last season, Everton played 4-3-3 nine times, 4-2-3-1 eight times, 4-4-2 seven times, 4-3-1-2 four times, and then one or two other formations. That’s a lot of changes. So what are Everton going to do this summer?”

And yet our players fail to shine in any system.
I think Ancelotti has done wonders to get 59 points out of this group of players.

Imagine how many points we will get when he has players that can pass a ball and run faster than a slug. (oh and who give a toss)

A big part of success in team sports is consistency - you cant get consistency playing 50 formations a season.

On top of that you can add his player choices, for example, 442, how many times did he choose to change the back 4 when injury didnt force his hand? Same with the midfield.
He neither has a system of choice, or a defense/midfield of choice, that isnt helping either, and its not fully on the lack of quality options.
