2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

That was me and what was ridiculous about? that i don't want a team full of 29 year olds, i never said i did'nt rate James but i mean we are being linked with Isco and Khedera at the moment who are 28 and 33, if that is your idea of a future then fine but it's not mine mate, it's just lazy scouting.
But I think it’s going to be a mixture of the two. We all hope a year down the line, after 2 more windows and maybe one or two younger players. Gbamin, Godfrey, Gordon have kicked on to another level.

I think while Ancelotti is here that will be the philosophy. When James & Allan go, maybe they get replaced by more big names who are 29/30.

Chelsea have spent a lot of money over the years, but are playing on Saturday v us, they will have a 36yd old CB and maybe a 34yr old striker. It’s all a balance for me, while I don’t want a team of 30yr olds. I don’t want a team of kids either.

nailed on and trying to push any other narrative is a total rewrite of history and Carlos time at Everton
Exactly, have gave 2 starts to Branthwaite when we literally had no one else who could play centre back, and even then he rushed players back from injury to cover and they got injured.
And he has given 4 starts to Gordon in total.

Hardly blooding youngsters.

I expected mid table again. If thats the disapoinment you mean.
Think we have a mid table keeper. Mid table centre halfs. Mid table squad players who are being used again.
I will change my opinion if after another few windows and his signings come in and dont have any impact.
Well i don't expect any better than mid table and that's not just because the players are not better than that but also because he has shown prior to having any involvement with Everton that he has failed to update some of his methods with the way modern football has changed, for a guy who constantly bangs on how simple the game is he does'nt half complicate it at times. Please don't think i want him to be sacked though as that isn't the case, we have to try and instill some form of stability within the club and go with it for a period of time, it's just for me i can't help but think Moshiri went looking at the big name (which is always what he has wanted) rather than is it actually what we needed. I mean there were rumours at the time that Brands wanted Silva to stay a bit longer as he was having preliminary discussions with Ten Haag the Ajax manager, not sure i would have wanted him as he seems a bit of a bore/dullard but his qualities as a coach are probably far more suited to what we needed than Ancelotti ever was/will be. Too many are looking at Carlos record, but not taking into account that the bulk of it was achieved 10+ years ago, the game has change an awful lot in recent years and for all the CL and domestic leagues that Carlo has won none of the big clubs seem in any hurry to have him as a manager anymore, i wonder why?

I'm sorry, that's just blatantly wrong. If we finish 9th we have MASSIVELY underperformed. You don't bring in Allan and James and give Carlo 11m a year to finish 9th. We brought in those players for the sole reason to immediately improve.

No, I agree. I wanted to say that an ordinary manager would expect to achieve 9th with this Everton side, but many people believe that 7th position is the target this season, along with cup success.

If the target is 7th and we are in 9th position now only a couple of points away, then maybe it is a little early to react strongly against Ancelotti. Criticise? Yes but sack? Not for me.

With the money and ambition shown by the board, we expect big things and after a strong start, it is disappointing to be in this place. I think you are right though, Ancelotti needs to show improvement and demand more from the team to finish in 7th place.

Agreed, absolutely not. I can't recall who said it but someone said "we know how this goes when it starts to go wrong" and I "get" that. I mean, the "sack Carlo" shouts are massively premature but we've seen how this goes when it goes wrong and it is going very very wrong at the moment.

If we get 9th and win the Carling Cup that'd do me honestly but it's such a longshot. James and Allan didn't come to no-Europe Everton to not play in Europe 2 years in a row. Carlo needs to figure this out and stop being either ignorant or stubborn.

I agree, the consequences of failing to either reach 7th place or win a trophy this season could mean big pressure from players, particularly Richarlison, who will have interest from clubs in the Champions League. Maybe even Calvert Lewin and James will have good offers to leave too.

Of course, we could get big fees for them, but the club do not have a strong track record with spending big money in recent years so this may set the team back even further. Qualifying for the Europa League may convince some or hopefully all of the players to stay for one more year.

I feel this is the roadmap that Ancelotti has laid out for the club. To qualify for Europe this year, in any way, is vital. If those players do leave, we have seen other clubs sell top players and improve so it is not a disaster, but it would be good to keep them obviously.

so a few is still a few to many mate
Right then Mr Huyton Happy Clapper, this is getting very tedious now please explain WHY we should all be forced into liking/supporting Carlo Ancelotti

This is basically what you keep trying to say, you clearly can't handle other peoples views on topics and are coming across as quite unhinged at times

We can't afford to sack the manager at the moment so shouts like that are crazy but in recent games he has made a number of mistakes be they lineups or in game but all stuff that falls on his doorstep so you can't expect people not to comment on them. You and others on here need to stop hanging off his record also, yes he has been a top manager but the bulk of it was years ago and the game has changed quite a bit since then, it's certainly a lot faster for starters.

You need to let people have their views though it's just as relevant as yours and not be having a go or shouting at them because they don't like Carlo or as i said please explain why we should be forced into liking him.

TBF, I both REALLY like and support Carlo. I just think he's getting it really wrong at the moment.

Mate, there’s very few actual boo boys. People are questioning some of his decisions the last few weeks, and rightly so.
You are not a boo boy just because you are critiques of him - his team selections lately or his substitutions have come in to question as we have won 1 out of 6 games - so any criticism the buck stops with him imo - not heard anyone calling to sack him - he will leave any rate if funds are not available in January imo -

There's a part of me (although a relatively small part, mind) that thinks he perhaps underestimated how much the pace of the league has picked up since he last managed here with Chelsea.

You can make up for it, to do degree, with a number of real quality players in the lineup but he just doesn't have that here. Perhaps he expects a bit too much from certain players?

He is human and not the messiah!
the truth is he is above what we could attract as a managerial replacement right now. IT was a shock when he joined us because of that. its about time we got behind the team and tried to push them forward rather than snapping at their ankles like a Championship defender.
We might go out of the cups soon - its somewhat 50/50 every game and we might continue to endeavour without reward in the league, but my god , the football is so much better than in recent years and we do not go into games as expected losses.
