2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

He should be judged after five years, not before. The squad should be a mixture of youth players developed from within and shrewd signings that fit the system, maybe having to break the bank occasionally to get the 'right' transfer target. From that solid foundation and an established playing style, progress can be made. There are at least five teams well ahead of us in terms of squads and playing styles. Realistically at the moment we are trying to compete with the likes of Wolves and Leicester who both have established squads and styles of play developed over a few years. To get to their level first, consistently should be the main target before getting too ambitious. It will take time and won't come overnight, it hasn't been instant for any other successful teams so why should we expect it to be different.

CB - Highly unlikely he is a five year manager; never mind a five year's to develop a squad before he takes it on to compete.

This my core question about CA & his appointment. He is a great manager, but not a long terms one. We need a long term commitment and he might not be the answer to that.

I’m not slaughtering him, I’m questioning his decisions because they appear to be having a detrimental effect on the team and results. I’ve never called for him to be sacked, I believe he’s smart enough to rectify his mistakes. People act as if he doesn’t/can’t make mistakes and we’re not allowed to question him.
And you are absolutely correct to question his decision making, particularly as you’ve made it clear you haven’t called for Carlo to be given his briefs and his P45.

Not sure what younger players people want to see? Gordon? The player that Carlo started in the derby ahead of far more experienced options and trusted up until this season. Nkonkou? He wasn’t even expected to be in the first team squad this season until Baines retired but he’s already started in the premier league and played first team in the calving cup.

He’s played DCL, Holgate, Davies, Godfrey, Branthwaite, numerous times in the premier league.

We don’t have a huge raft of young players that Carlo is overlooking.
Never said I want to see them, said if they were good enough I am sure he would play them

I keep hearing he doesn’t play the young ones, so just asking a simple question....

I agree, I thought that Ancelotti was a strange appointment at the time for this reason. His tenures have normally been under 2 years at everywhere other than AC Milan. And he has won honours at every club. Hopefully he does here too.

Long term management does not really exist in Football now. It is very rare. 5 years is long term now. So is 2 years short term? Even if he leaves in 12 months he can still have a big impact and maybe leave the club in a better state than when he arrived.

This is a big change and a completely new challenge for him. He may be the “long term” solution, but it is important to keep an open mind that he may not too.

Ahh god we go round in some circles on here!!
Some think he's god/some want Eddie or Davy.
Some think he knows best due to his career/some are questioning his relevance in todays game.
Most agree he has made questionable decisions in our run of poor results, and i hope 90% of us believe he deserves a proper go at it (if not im willing to listen to your thoughts on who should replace him)
I admit i have doubts on him managing/coaching a squad as bog standard as ours but live in hope that with time and another summer transfer window (dont see much in January tbh) he can add another 2/3 players of real quality and get rid of at least the same amount of deadwood, we as a squad will be a lot stronger.

In the last three games he seems to have had a mixture of Tom Davies rwb, iwobi lwb and also rwb, delph left back, Doucoure rwb and Godfrey lb. He’s also decided that the cover rb and lb are not good enough for the bench in those games. When he played both of them at previous times in the season, and they’ve been often seen on the bench in other fixtures before our first choices got injured. That’s just absolutely mind blowing. It’s fine if it works, but we’ve picked up 4 points from 9 against two promoted sides, one which will go down and another relegation favourite. And then people are complaining that there’s people questioning him???
Time to get back to basics (remember when Duncan did that) and some round pegs in round holes.

I do not think that anyone truly would like to see him leave yet. But, I can understand why some fans are growing impatient. As many have said, it is reasonable to criticise and normal to feel disappointed after recent results.

Whatever happens, the fans will keep supporting Ancelotti and the team and hopefully things improve. 9th position in the table, where the team is now, is about where you would expect this team to finish at the end of the season too.

That would be disappointing as the team has wasted the advantage gained in the first games. But if you were looking at the teams you may expect to finish ahead of us, 9th is where the team are.

Needs time.
I replied to a post earlier someone saying they dont want ancelotti's cant get in other teams players.
Take it thats rodriguez. So try to bring in quality and thats the ridiculous im talking about.
Burnley last minute. Perfect threaded ball put on a plate. Whats wrong with that picture? The player threading a great pass or the overpayed pap missing it bought by ronald koeman.
No disrespect to these players but some deserve to constantly watch your barry hornes and mark pembridges.
Getting criticsed for trying to bring in instant quality a cut above we are used to.
Some ridiculous posts.

That was me and what was ridiculous about? that i don't want a team full of 29 year olds, i never said i did'nt rate James but i mean we are being linked with Isco and Khedera at the moment who are 28 and 33, if that is your idea of a future then fine but it's not mine mate, it's just lazy scouting.

Khedera is lazy journalism - not lazy scouting.

He's had one window. The instant injection of two players playing a level way above what the current squad was was needed. Other younger players presumably for the future have also come in.
Im sure we could go ask bayern munich to sell us kingsley coman but they might just turn us down. Him being a regular and all that.

I do hope so, im really against that as a move. I do want Carlo to get some time, sacking a manager at the moment would be crazy, but for £11m a year he needs to start showing a lot more than what is being served up at the moment.

We will see at the end of the season where we are, im not expecting much though
