I see where you are coming frombut the players we have now and the manager we have now are not the same in the Moyes are, so how can it be plaguing us since Moyes.

martinez destroy the work ethics, koeman sign players that lack grit, Silva never sign a midfield with pace power and tenacity. Carlo will have a hard time trying to reverse the damage done by previous managers.

Work ethic is crucial. I can only imagine the players are either not fit or not train to emphasise on simple off the ball movement. Can’t think of any other reasons. We have plenty of energy under Moyes.

This is definitely an unwarranted meltdown by lots of posters

sorry guys

People might think they are being reasonable and just worrying about small things, and are still willing to be patient, but I’m sorry it really shines through on lot of the posts since last night that the same old turn on the manager brigade would be quickly out already in his first full season if god forbid we went on a bad run of results now

ask yourself how close you are to questioning his positioning now.....like no win and poor performances for the next month and you’d be wondering who else can come in? I think some seem that close to turning reading the absolute certainty they seem to have of perceived failings and dismissing of fair context

there was even an handful of posters last night that couldn’t hide that they are waiting to be proved right with shouts of glorified fat Sam and not in his right mind
There will always be the odd crackpot who wants every manager sacked and every player burnt at the stake after every loss, but I think it's easy enough to weed them out. The vast majority of comments don't come anywhere near that category and are just people understandably unhappy with what has been a fairly lengthy run of poor performances and poor results at home. I said a few weeks ago, this style of football certainly doesn't win you hearts, so if it doesn't win you points either people will get fed up very quickly. It's a natural reaction I think.

Largely Carlo's embarrassment is confined to post match interviews where he answers a few questions shrugs his shoulders and walks off. How he would react to 38,000 angry and upset fans reacting as they certainly would to a number of abject performances such as against Fulham, remains to be seen. I am sure he is not used to public embarrassment. He will certainly have to cope with it if matches like this are acted out in front of a home crowd who have travelled and paid to watch it..

Last night wouldn’t have happened if goodison was full, I’m not saying we’d have won but we wouldn’t have strolled about like that, last night was an insult to the fans and I don’t care how anybody wants to dress it up

I totally agree and I've said before, I prefer the 4 centre backs solid base, and build on that.

I honestly don't think he can find a balance to put a side out to win a game with these players. We get out worked all the time.

Looking back at yesterday's shambles, I wonder if he thought that having two attacking wing backs, meant he needed to have two more mobile centre halves. He was perhaps hoping for the wingbacks to give us width and he was completely packing the midfield with players who prefer to move more central, in the hope the lack of pace wouldn't be as much of an issue.

He seems able to put together a side that's fairly difficult to beat for teams who like having possession of the ball, but he's miles away from something capable of going out and beating a team with a high work-rate off the ball.

Also what became so obvious in yesterday's game especially was just how much we rely on DCL to hold the ball up. We punt aimless balls up towards the forward in the hope he can get something on it. DCL is often able to hold the ball up himself or nod it back in the path of the midfield. Without him, we lose every single long ball and it just comes straight back. It's amateur hour.
We beat Leeds the other week who are a high pressing team, Richarlison had a chance to show yesterday and he wasn’t at it at all. That may have been due to Wednesday but we had King to play up there. Siggardson was like night and Day James didn’t look up for it? It’s like something had happened in the dressing room, nobody was geeing anyone up,

Those who are calling for him to be sacked and labelling him are stupid mate. I certainly don’t agree with that.

I don’t think it’s unjust at all to criticise him for performances like yesterday, he has to take some responsibility.

I love the man and want him to succeed with us. Improvements have been made it’s clear to see for the most part. Until he has his own starting XI and most of the garbage has been sent packing then I don’t think it’s fair to be calling for his head, yet.

The board need to take a massive chunk of blame, they haven’t backed him properly, they know he’s not here for the long term project, the man is in his early 60s and has spent the last two decades playing with tailor made top class players. Not bums like Andre Gomes, Iwobi, Sigurdsson etc....

He needs to work on this set up against lesser teams that press us no doubt about that and the blame has to lie on his feet because he hasn’t addressed or found an alternative to this approach and that’s my main gripe with him. Would he be able to set us up differently if he had different players available? Who knows. I think so. But he NEEDS to do something to address these current issues at home to lesser quality teams.
Well said...

Not a fan of rotation of back line. Second sense of your teammates in the back line takes time to develop, their seems to be issues in communication and knowing of responsibility when and where. And maybe this will take just longer to develop as rotation is favoured.

Also, it's fair to suggest the trio of Gomes Gilfy and James playing together is just not up to the physical rigours of the premiership football, it's well noted.

I haven’t seen anybody say Carlo should go. That would be madness.

But it would be equally mad to not comment on a run of absolutely dismal home performances.
The team sheet was a big red flag, and the lack of half time changes were odd too.
Nobody is above criticism.

It’s as close to a fully fit squad as we’ve had since the start of the season though

We can’t count Gbamin or Delph, though for different reasons. Pickford doesn’t make a difference in terms of what system we play in front of him, surely.

I agree Allan wasn’t ready but regardless that doesn’t make us play that system mate

of outfield players featuring regularly since mid-December, one wasn’t fit. I appreciate Dom is key, but that shouldn’t mean he plays five central midfielders mate

Ive already said that Carlo picked the wrong system and the wrong line up. He got it wrong. He’s shown he can get it right though. Better players cover up the times he gets it wrong though. At the moment we’re relying way too much on him and Carlo’s tactics and subs aren’t absolutely perfect we lose. The squad is poor and if Carlo gets it wrong we definitely lose.

I saw it here and on social in November/December - Burnley/Leeds time before we went on a good run.

Not recently though.

I know mate, as I said I think he’s the best thing about the club atm

I just worry that he can get it so wrong twice in a season. It seems a trust issue with certain players? But then he seems to have too much faith in others...

I just don’t see why he did what he did yesterday or, at the very least, didn’t change it sooner

Of course not

But he picked a team that had no legs, inexperienced centre backs and Sigurdsson through the middle. I dont like criticising the manager but his decisions yesterday were baffling and it was completely disrespectful to Fulham. We were basically saying we can rotate as much as we like and still beat you, Wednesday is more important.

Its on the manager yesterday and its the sort of result you will do well to recover from. You don't get those 3 points back
Shall he pick Lionel Messi then?

No striker would have done well with that midfield behind them

Doesn’t excuse him being crap when he got the ball but, he wasn’t helped

I think we find ourselves in a position at the minute where certain teams raise their game and work rate when they play us, coupled with our players feeling like they can half arse the game and get a result.

That’s not to say Ancelotti is absolved of any of the blame for these results. He needs to be able to motivate the players to an extent and stop thinking he can make too many weird tweaks and still keep a balanced team.

I can’t say I’ve seen much of Fulham apart from when they’ve played us, maybe they play that way every game. But certainly Newcastle, didn’t play anything like they’d done in the games previous to our recent match with them.

Again mate it’s the style of football we come up against and energy levels. Fulham played out of their skin yesterday, showed more desire, more energy, more determination, they were more fluid and kept their shape well and defended and attacked as a team. We had a group of overpaid individual wallies who didn’t have a clue what they’re were supposed to be doing. Standing off, standing still, waiting for the ball to come to them, zero movement, zero awareness, minimum effort... it was heartbreaking to watch, it’s just not acceptable.
I agree but I don’t think their team possess more ability. The sad thing was that we should have responded to the threat much earlier. We gave them a lot of encouragement to play and didn’t plant any seeds of doubt going the other way. If we would have scored a goal early or created a couple of chances and played aggressive early it would have affected their confidence. That is what annoys me more than anything else.
