I give Carlo credit today for the win, considering it was a tough away game against a fighting WBA. His decision to let SIgurdsson take the inswinging corner worked. Gomes looked better in the 2nd half while DCL should have scored the 1 v 1.

Really happy to see Bernard given a decent shift today and he showed why he along with James is the most comfortable on the ball playing forward passes. I hope Carlo doesn't tinker with the CB partnership as Godfrey and Keane is the way to go.

Good to see him making the changes when they were needed, hooking Iwobi off at the right time. Although starting the game with actual wide players was very pleasing to see but knowing Carlo, he only did that as part of Sigurdsson rested and James unavailable.

Overall I maintain doubts on our approach, esp at home. Our inability not to kill games at home will cost us and the poor tactics against West Ham, Leeds, Newcastle and Fulham at home will be the difference at the end of the season. We are certainly riding our luck for the last 2 games, saved by the VAR by mm and presented a great chance to Southampton last game by deciding to see out the last 10 minutes.

We're into March and still have two things to aim for. When was the last time that happened?

Our style under Carlo isn't easy on the eye but we win games even if we have to grind it out. For me winning is the main thing, how it's achieved comes secondary.

We haven't got a squad of top class players so we aren't really going to tear sides a new one often. I'm quite happy seeing us win ugly for the rest of the season and hopefully add some extra quality in the summer.

We are hard to beat and Carlo has us seriously well drilled. Some of the criticism he's received off a minority of fans isn't fair. He really is getting a tune out of this squad even if it isn't exciting to watch.

You're an utter joke of a poster

As well as the dramatic improvement in some player's under him he's also gotten others who've barely contributed in season's past to offer more at times when needed.

He's getting the job done at the moment no matter how we play. Perhaps a part of it is squad management.

I worry about us dropping points when we haven't played great but on the other hand I expect Man United, Leicester and West Ham to drop a lot of points before the end of the season. Villa have dropped off and Spurs and Arsenal have been patchy at best all season.

The year is 2025, Everton on the back of a domestic treble, minutes after beating Bayern 5-0 in the Champions League final, a lone voice is heard at the back "We lost to Newcastle and Fulham".

In Carlo we trust.

Its a beautiful dream, hope that eventuates!

The year could also be 2025, Everton hoping to "nick" a goal from their only shot on target through 30% possession vs Charlton for all I care only to end up with a 0-0 draw yet collective hands in pants could be seen as people would be whacking off just cos Carlo managed a 0-0 draw "with this lot of 400M + players". We missed Europe cos of such a game but still hats off!

What?

Im baffled by you people, we finally have a great manager, who is finding ways to get wins and its not good enough. I get people being unhappy with defeats, but we won a game tonight that took us into the top 4, in March, I honestly forget the last time that happened, maybe you know?

But anyway, we are still in the FA Cup, challenging for the top 4, the wins aren't pretty, but they are wins, how can you honestly not be happy? Sure the results arent totally sustainable, but again, we are in with a fighting chance of playing in a truly elite footballing competition and 3 games away from our first trophy in a lifetime.

What then makes people like you pick holes? What drives the deep unhappiness you must have to find fault?

What do you want? What are your goals with regards Everton?

It's fair to say that the horsepuncher and Fulham points are the ones we will rue if we don't make top 4. That said, the last team I can recall that didn't take a bad L over the course of 38 games was the Invincibles, and that's only because they didn't suffer any.

What we're doing isn't sustainable, but winning on 14 senior players never would be. Carlo's pulling rabbits out of a hat as we try to get well again, with just two more league games and the FA Cup quarterfinals on the agenda before we hopefully heal and rest up over the international break.

He is working with the tools at his disposal and managing a busy game schedule. We have had our fair share of injuries too. He has to his credit tried a variety of formations, not all have been successful but the team is evolving. Players improving and with more transfer windows we will get stronger and he will implement the style to go with the substance. You can’t have one without the other.

Carlo has found responsibilities and roles for every player. Most players have improved under him, because he's simplified the game plan and everyone knows what they're doing. I've enjoyed watching because while the game plan is fairly simplistic, Carlo is able to mix it up by moving his pieces around like a chess grandmaster.

In Martinez's latter seasons we played some lovely, neat football at times. We would also often crumble when opponents scored, turning a 2-0 to a 2-3. Scraping out grubby wins and changing the club's mentality is better than continuing the cycle of losing our arse when the momentum in a game changes. The neat football can come after ( it's not like we haven't played some decent stuff this year).
