Cars today

Guilty of all the above. Changed in August to a BMW X3 that I can step out of instead of stepping up from. What a difference. Also decided to go to a Chiropractor and the Sciatic condition is nearly completely gone.
Previously I’ve owned a Honda HRV (fantastic car), a Nissan juke (reliable and comfortable) and now drive a Vivaro van.. as you say it’s far easier to get in and out of a slightly higher car

To be honest I’m in no rush to get anything. I have my Vivaro van and my Mrs has her fairly fresh Fiat 500 which is great around town. I was just thinking of getting something a bit bigger than her car that I could use daily to drive to work. I quite like the Mondeo and the Insignia …. But again, I’m in no rush to get anything to be honest.
I've got a 10 year old mondeo Titanium, econetic diesel, leather seats, sat nav, parking sensors, heated seats and best of all no road tax.
Had it 6 years no problems bar usual wear and tear.
I put it on webuyanycar last year for curiosity and was offered £7000

Nissan Xtrail might suit you then

Plenty on Autotrader from £800 up and decent motors around the 3-5K mark

On a 4-6k budget, go and give SAAB 9-3 a look. Healthy market around the last of line 2010/2011 and as a previous owner a great drive, especially on a long run. Aesthetically pleasing with a great dash panel and the best cup holder ever made.
If it's a diesel try to get the 2.2 as the 1.9's electricals are a nightmare.

I'll sell you my custom car for about 3K. It actually doesn't move, rather it's tires spin the earth beneath it:

XF are decent cars, big mind; and not really what I'd call 'second car'.

Maserati Quattroporte could be an alternative to the XF. Very special, rare and the Ferrari developed V8 engine makes the car hands down the best sounding executive car out there, from the older naturally aspirated V8 engine era.
Can you get a Maserati in his £4-6k range? I imagined they would be a bit more than that

Wow. I just checked, a new one in Australia is $220,000 (about £110,000)

How old would one have to be to worth only 4k?
About the same here new then.

2019 £25k
2015 £17k
2007 £6k

Big depreciation!

Just checked with autotrader and there's only 46 for sale in the country. Very rare car here.
