Rangers for me, although am a Dundee FC fan above anything else in Scotland.

On the religion bit, the St Domingo's team was from a Methodist (Protestant) not Catholic church...

It's not really a question of the club's apparent roots in a Sunday school team (as Neb states above, both EFC and LFC share that 'root'); it's about which communities each club have traditionally drawn their support from. Everton always had a big north end "Irish" Catholic following. Why? Who knows the full explanation. If you read books touching on the experience of people living in Liverpool both before and after the Second World War, then anecdotal evidence tends to back that belief up. Even the likes of Tommy Smith in his biography underlines it. A Catholic, Smith told his teacher back in the '50's he was signing for Liverpool FC. His teacher told him he was signing for the Protestant team and tried to warn him off. There's lots of that type of evidence about.

It's all bollocks now like...and rightly so.
