tbf, we've kind of allowed ourselves to be seen as a stepping stone. And only Everton, once they finally get a billionaire investor, accelerates even faster into the abyss of irrelevance.

For decades we believed we were but a good takeover by a wealthy consortium away from becoming relevant again.

We got a billionaire backer and what has happened?

We have regressed at an alarming rate on the pitch and are now even further behind the elite clubs than we were when we were skint and getting by on a fiduciary wing and a prayer, a mere twenty months or so ago.
