Big Sam’s tactics were horrible but he can’t really be faulted in terms of signings. Tosun and Walcott aren’t perfect but they were the best we could get at the time and both of them improved us last season.

That’s why I said we were saddled with only one such unshiftable second rate player.

Walcott is a good player who has something to offer.

Cenk may have improved us last season, though not by much, but today he is not fit for purpose and that is why we have had to play Richey at centre forward when he is more threatening when played wide left.

Made a big difference when he came on.

His physical presence really unsettled their defence and as a result they dropped much deeper.

People saying he doesn`t care need to give their heads a serious wobble, as he was everywhere when he came on.

Unlike Bambi Lewin, who made have not been on the pitch.

Any excuse to slate DCL I see, have a day off, Tosun is crap.

The Turkish adventure for ex-Real Madrid defender Pepe has come to an end after he reached an agreement with Besiktas to rescind his contract.

An official announcement has not yet been made but the Portugal international, whose deal was due to expire in June, is now free to sign for another club.

Reports in Turkey indicate that Besiktas are going through economic issuesand have been unable to pay the high salaries of many of their players, including Pepe.

The 35-year-old played 17 league game this season and managed an impressive five goals, with three coming in domestic action and two in Europe.

In total in Turkey, the defender has played in 53 games, scoring seven goals and also providing three assists.

Wont be going back to them.

I still see a player there. Needs a run and a goal or 2 to build his confidence , but I guess opportunities will be limited.

I remember against Bournemouth he played a lovely weighted through ball for Walcott, and he ran in behind well for his goal vs Crystal Palace. I think he needs to play facing the goal rather than with his back to it and that's a problem in a 4-2-3-1 as he ends up isolated and gets bullied by strong CBs. I agree he has some quality about him but I don't think we'll see much of it at Everton unless we change the system we play, which is a shame.

Tosun was a dreadful signing. That money could have been put towards a £50m striker. We didn't need him last year and we certainly don't need him now.

Hopefully the last example in a while of us wasting money.

We bought a striker who works better alongside someone with pace and in a more direct team. I think he's a good finisher works hard, decent link up, but can't play up on his own because of his lack of pace and he doesn't make his own chances two crucial characteristics in a lone striker.

He doesn’t miss many chances but isn’t mobile enough to play up front alone, and a strike partner isn’t a luxury afforded to many in 2018. Doesn’t suit the league either. A shame really, but one of them.
