You make some half decent points but naismith wasn't more effective than tosun. We didn't sell him because we was sell to buy at all we sold him because she wasn't good enough. We sold him for about 6 million so to suggest we needed to sell him is madness we sold him for buttons.
Naismith is very niasse. Terrible at football but some fans seem to love them because they try hard. Both terrible both don't belong at a club like Everton
In no way am I saying tosun is boss or anything either. He's just better
We got £8m+ for Naismith having signed him on a free, and shortly after spent the money on Niasse. Whether that was a good deal or not, it happened. I didn't say we needed to sell him in the same way that we had to sell Rooney or Arteta, but we certainly didn't have the money to throw around back then that we do now. Martinez spent less on transfers in 3 years than Koeman did on Sigurdsson, Bolasie and Keane, and received virtually half of it back on Fellaini, Anichebe, Jelavic and Naismith.
Anyway, I digress. Naismith didnt always have the quality we would like, but his work rate and finishing were excellent, he won way more in the air than he ever had the right to (he was better at winning headers, both offensively and defensively than Rom and almost a foot shorter), and was more intelligent than given credit for. He was often asked to play in midfield, which was not his position and still managed to pop up with memorable goals. Remember, he scored goals against Chelsea (several, including a perfect hattrick), Liverpool, Arsenal, City, United and Wolfsburg, and scored some important goals as well (Villa, Fulham).
As someone pointed out, Tosun so far has scored against Bournemouth, Brighton, Huddersfield and Stoke. That wouldn't be so bad if he actually improved the team in other ways, but the reality is, when he's not scoring, he is a passenger, as he offers little else.
And the service thing is nonsense. The odd game, when we play with our backs to the wall, sure. But we've played attacking football this season, with no shortage of chances and goals for other players, and he's been nowhere. It's not even like we've played top teams, they have all been very winnable, and for all the criticism Rom used to get, these were games you could almost guarantee he'd score and put the games to bed. If Tosun had scored as many goals as DCL this season, playing mostly from the wing, we would be looking a lot healthier than we currently are. But he hasn't even looked like scoring.
I genuinely hope he proves me wrong, because we need it desperately, but I'm not hopeful with what I've seen so far.
