2018/19 Cenk Tosun

Yeah, just like the first goals he scored against Watford and Burnley...

And let's be honest now, Lukaku's hold up play is far better than Tosun's. Did you fail to see our attacks and midfield completely break down last week due to Tosun not being able to compete with West Ham's defence?

Lukaku and hold up play just don't go together. Take a little visit to Twitter or Red Cafe and you will find an eerily similar "lukaku second season" theme going on. Most of their fans have seen enough now - he's just not good enough for the highest level.

He can't do anything without taking a few shuffles to set his feet. Hence the appalling chance he missed at the end because he thought he could allow the ball to bounce in the 6 yard box. If that was Tosun this place would be in uproar.

Tosun had a poor game last week - no getting away from it. The difference is he doesnt often have poor games and he cost a 3rd of what we got for lukaku. Tosun at very worst is a squad player... but I expect him to get better. Richarlison will do well because of Cenk.

Did you see the United game last night? Lukaku did what he does best.... not scoring when the game is in the balance. He's a wonderful goalscorer at 1 or 2 goals up....

I would have Tosun over him purely for the fact that he can hold and pass a ball to Richarlison.

He scored twice v Burnley in a 0-2 away win so game was in the balance, think he also scored the first away at Watford in 1-2 away win so he does score when games are in the balance sometimes.

And no way I'd have Tosun over Lukaku and i like Tosun just want him to start scoring goals

If United fans aren't happy with Lukaku's overall play then they would hate Tosun. The way people go on about Tosun's ability with the ball at his feet is insane. He literally does the bare minimum for any footballer in that he can control a ball and lay it off.

DCL for me, he deserves his chance & will be an absolute menace with Richarlison & Walcott on the counter attack...

The pace these three forwards have will be a constant threat & the aerial ability of DCL will also cause havoc in the ranks of a shaky home defence....
That's the spirit :)

I don't dislike Cenk Tosun - he's tried, and scored a couple when we needed it. I've seen nothing in the guy to say he's our CF for the future:

1) no real clever movement or link-up play to write home about
2) not so much out and out power
3) not a clever poacher type ( a la Kevin Phillips or even our very own Andrew Johnson)

Now in fairness to the guy Everton haven't exactly been consistent in a style of play that could help him, particularly in areas such as 1 & 3 above. But I woudl wanna see a bit more aggression regardless.

So, er, not a first choice for me. C'mon fella and prove me wrong :)

I thought he did alright in the first three games despite not scoring himself. He had Richarlison there to give the opposition something else to think about. He has been really poor the past two league games and it's cost him his place.

With Richarlison back I would've been tempted to keep him in the side today as our front players in the early games looked capable of scoring. On the other hand he seemed in anguish when he missed chances against West Ham and the lack of a goal this season is clearly playing on his mind.
