...possibly. I’m not particularly hung up with formations as it’s all about what your team does with the ball and without it. Colin Harvey liked 2 up top with the ball, but 1 would drop deeper when the opposition had possession. Hard work for the strikers, but the system worked.
Gray, Lineker, Heath and Cottee have all paid tribute to the part Sharp played in their success at Everton. The key for me, is whilst Sharp wasn’t a prolific scorer himself, he provided a goal threat. DCL isn’t doing that at all, and he needs to bring that to his game to be more effective. I imagine Silva wants to get midfielders closer to DCL, but at this point in time we are looking impotent.

I’m not a fan of Tosun, never have been but these lads have ‘ego’ and i’m sure he thinks he can be a success in this league. I imagine any move will not see him lose much financially on his current contract, but he sees a return to Turkey as a failure.
Who’d moan getting paid what he does to go to training.
All DCL offers at the moment is pace to chase a ball over the top. He seems to have regressed from last year whenever he showed a few glimpses of development. Someone alongside him may take pressure off but he is rapidly running out of time to cement his future here.
Re getting the midfielders closer to DCL, easier said than done if you have worries about pace and mobility at both centrefield and centreback.

Cenk would surely be better, he’s not as fast but the team are painfully slow in their play anyway, surely that wouldn’t be a problem.

DCL has the work rate to be able to get up and down the pitch to cover, leaving someone up top who can finish on the counter.

....he was an incredibly underrated footballer, my favourite Everton no9. Quality with attitude. I spoke to somebody who marked him and was told his back to goal technique was so good he never saw the ball when it was knocked into Sharp.

He may have the work rate, but he doesn’t have the intelligence or the technical ability for me. How many times late on the other night did he turn into trouble and then foul the villa player.
Also while we will be counter attacking against the better teams. A lot of games will dominate possession and come up against 10men behind the ball like villa. DCL will always struggle against that set up, the thing is DCL would have better success I’f we got some quality crosses in the box. But silva doesn’t seem to play that way, only the full backs are getting crossed in. And Coleman’s final ball is shocking.
Bernard & Richarlison & Iwobi aren’t that type of wide player.
