Cenk Tosun

My Hank was a great teacher: I could take apart and understand the componentry within internal combustion engine blocks, thanks to him.
Everton's Cenk was an altogether less worthwhile pedagogue. He contributed very little teachings outside of 'how to bum becoming a millionaire on the basis of nothing'.

More fool Everton

£27m to buy the player. Another £4m per year in wages, for four and a half years.

Around £45m in total.

For what?

For for him to occasionally sit on the bench, but most of the time he wasn't even in the squad. Imagine how lacking in ambition you'd have to be to simply shrug your shoulders at not being selected during the prime years of your sporting career.

A transfer so bad it was hilarious.

Move this thread into world football please, and let's not post in it again until he signs with another club.
Thats what happens when a manager buys his type of player then moves on quick, had Big Sam stayed Tosun would have played much more.

Whenever Moshiri thinks he knows enough about football to make a footballing decision - like buying a player or selecting a manager - this signing needs to be brought up as an example of him not knowing a damn thing about the game

Goodbye Cenk, you waster

One of the many signings of the last few years who have taken much but delivered little.

He loves the club and the fans, sadly it’s not reciprocal.
There a few like that, either through not being good enough or to injury prone, Tosun, Delph, Mina,Walcott even Sigs to a degree, Gomes,Gbamin that’s why our FFP is in such a mess. At least a lot will be gone now.

From what I’ve seen in the training videos he was the best finisher at the club, shame the rest of his game wasn’t as good. He seemed to like Everton (but he was being paid well) but I wish him luck wherever he lands up.

I'd agree with that. Good finisher, decent header, strong just not quick enough for the English league and even slower after 2 achilles injuries.

No blame attached to Cenk from me. Got offered a once in a lifetime contract and obviously couldn't turn it down. Saw quickly that it wasn't going to work out at Everton, so decided to just sit on the contract and enjoy his life with little to no expectation that he needed to do anything to actually earn the wage. Financially secure for the rest of his life and with his children and grandchildren never needing to do a day's work in their lives too due to Everton's generosity. Fair play to him.

Mate, he could have gone on loan for the same wages pretty much (we'd have still been paying some) but he didnt bother, sat on the bench week after week, even though there was a world cup on the horizon. Imagine having that little ambition. Imean, it is his choice, but an odd one.

I dunno, not too odd. Maybe he decided he couldn't be bothered going away to a different club and/or country every six months for three years, being away from his family, taking his children out of school, or wanting them to stay at the school he put them in when he joined Everton and enjoying his family life and taking advantage of potentially feeling hard done by Everton due to lack of opportunities to play. Many reasons. In any case, the club is at fault, and they've done it time and time again. I bet he's had the time of his life in the last three years.

he was afraid to move on loan after two injuries he suffered in his last two loan spells. thats why he rejected the last possible move, since it was CSKA, one might say he did well in hindsight considering the country's recent adventures

Glad he’s gone. Decent memories of his first few months to drag us out the mire in 17/18 but he was right on the edge of not having enough pace anyway and the injuries rendered him pretty useless after that.

It was only Crstal Palace or his old club in Turkey I think, but yeh, easy for us to say.

But sadly the impact of their fees and wages will continue to be a burden to us with regards to FFP.
