Champions League revamp

Listening to Neville and Carragher here and there's a lot of rowing back - I get the impression that if promotion and relegation was allowed for the scab league they'd back down.
Well then it wouldnt be a closed shop Dave.

Im not saying it would be acceptable, but it would be slightly more acceptable.

Sky are absolutely terrified, terrified this is going ahead.
Flapping over nothing, not a chance this will happen
I agree this wont happen, its the crap compromise I fear of. The best result out of this is a great reset of the game. Fire off the special six, take a hit for a few years, come back better and more competitive and all the more strong because of it. Cave in to these tw4ts and football will never recover, this will drag on for years and years of inner turmoil. End it now, then the threat todo the same again in the future is a real threat.

That statement from Sky was so non-commital. Plenty of words to say absolutely nothing. Actually worse than not releasing a statement at all.

Name dropping us for the breakaway in 1992.

Watch that ferret sell himself to the highest bidder if the super league does start. He’s only bothered about eulogising over Liverpool at every given opportunity and taking cheap shops at Everton. He’s not dragged his punditry above the annoying kopite uncle at the family Christmas level.

TBF he mentioned Everton because were part of the big 5 who pushed for it, and the fact that the big X changes.....

My money is on Tottenham. They borrowed £175m of COVID cash and the government is threatening to foreclose the loan. Arsenal borrowed £120k

The more debt these clubs have, the more they need the SL - thats what unites Barca, Inter, AC, Atleti, United and Spurs. Arsenal would need to go into debt to get back as a fixture in the top four, and the RS probably will soon too.

City and Chelsea aren't in that boat

to a small extent; but I remember we went through this debating restart. The PL is the flattest in terms of distribution of TV revenue in the top leagues, so it wouldnt change dramatically

Did we? I don't remember that.

It is quite flat relative to other leagues yes, but I think it's more other leagues are grossly uneven.

There's quite a bit more you get from jumping from 15th to say 4th and getting CL money too. It must be a temptation for clubs, especially if you feel the product could rebound. There's a lot of upside.

I mean the decision around financials is it's fair to say fairly mixed. But around ethics and principles it's easy. If they have any sense it's an easy decision. But it's a big if.

Sky, “we like football and football should continue and we like football” or something like that.......
