Champions League revamp

The superleague is coming back and this time, Its personal.

The new version has 7 leagues of 20 teams, 140 teams in total with promotion and relegation between them.

You've got to give them credit there. They certainly seemed to have learned from last time. This new proposal is big enough to include all the top teams from all the top divisions. Less chance of it being rejected.

I really hope that this will be the chance for football to split, like rugby did. That's not going to happen though is it? Uefa and Fifa are going to cave quicker than a wet cardboard box, being sat on by a fat man.

This will become the death of competitive football. Once it becomes purely about the money, it will just turn into an exhibition. Where the drama will be choreographed, just like wrestling ☹

Hope the Football League stand firm and the structure/pyramid stays. Obviously the quality will be far lower but I’m not arsed, it’ll be an actual competition, so it’ll be more interesting than this guff. I’ll be following my non-league team full time if this comes to fruition.

Me too. But I don't see it. The way the FA, the Premier League, Uefa and even the media have all brushed the last attempt under the carpet, leaves me to belive they will all cave in and roll over.

To be honest, my link to football is basically this forum, and an occasional clance at the BBC football page. The passion has gone for me. To point where I'm struggling to get my children interested in Everton.

All the super league is going to do, is push that apathy to it's natural conclusion.

Oh yeah no doubt they will all bend over for it, I’m talking about further down the leagues and lower league clubs. Hope they see this as an opportunity to reset the game, cheaper ticket prices, market itself to the working classes again. Leave the “super league” to the FIFA ultimate team generation and the tourists, like in the US where the college football system is completely separate from the NFL and still manages to thrive.

I suspect the last paragraph is already happening to some extent.

Couldn't agree more. Well said! If we join this charade to enrich a few clubs, that's it for me.

That certainly would be great. I do wonder at what level the money stops filtering down, and the clubs only rely on the FA for the referees? I suspect possibly League 2?

Though I'd agree that it would be better if it happened at non league level. The Football League haven't exactly impressed me recently.
