Transfer Rumour Che Adams

Mate, it's got nothing to do with being content.

If you check back through my posting history you'll see I'm far from content with the way this club has been run for nigh on 30 years.

But go on, how would you attract REAL talent to a club that's been battling relegation for 2 years? If its that easy, why can't a fella on the Internet get Thelwels job?
In my job, if I had perform as well as thelwell I would be out the door a long time ago. But yeah poor guy he has such a difficult job and only a 7 figures salary to show for it.

I understand it.

We're on the back of our lowest ever Premier League points total.

Two consecutive seasons when we've needed a win on our last home game to avoid the drop.

When the objective is to stay in the league, hopefully more comfortably - you need to guarantee a baseline of performance.

Thinking back to January. Loads wanted the likes of Dango Ouattara in January (£20m to Bournemouth) or Georginio Rutter (36m to Leeds).

The margins are small, we've lost the allowance to 'gamble', or allow the time for players to develop.
You forgot about the real forum favourite Tall Paul who went to Southampton.

funny how all the stattos go on about his strengths don’t mention his dire goal return which whatever way people want to spin it is the most important thing
But it's not the only thing, tying up defenders and leading the line, bringing others in to play and providing an outlet and a focal point to the head of the tem is also hugely important.

Whilst I agree goals are key, to many times last year had no threat or outlet up top which means the opposition team can lead with a high line and press, pinning us back with no outlet.

Funny how everyone who hates the idea of Adams coming in focuses entirely on his goal record and negates the fact that there's more to a strikers game than goals alone.

Yeh I completely understand it if we signed Che Adams. I’d be more pissed if he was a really high up target and we waited till now though. (He should have come last summer instead of Maupay regardless)

this lad might be surprise me but it’s just how underwhelming it is , like on Saturday when calvert lewin being injured was announced i think the whole ground seemed flat , a good signing would have given the fans a lift it desperately needs this on the back of maupay last season , rondon the season before just very deflating

not the same as 'a lot less terrible'
And that's why he should stay there

Semantics.

Lets use your exact quote then;

Just because Maupay is terrible for Dyche's style, doesn't make Adams good for it

Correct, but even just less terrible could help us.

For 12/15mil we should be able to get a lot less terrible

Would be intrigued who you think we can sign nowadays for that fee?

Having a competent striker who can occupy centre halves is the key to having an effective side. DCL didn't score against Brighton, but his availability that night is the main reason why we scored 5 and McNeil and Doucoure had the freedom of their final third.

Having a centre forward who can hang onto the ball when it's played long allows other players to make those runs in behind. Wide players and midfielders will not be able to gamble with forward runs if they don't trust the forward to retain possession.

I'm not saying Adams will do as good a job, because he's not as good as Dom. But having no one similar who can fill in and help the team stay competitive when DCL is out, is going to leave us right down near the bottom.

This has been bandied about all over this thread. Let me ask you a different question then, if Adams isn't going to score the goals but will facilitate others scoring, which of our players are going to score the goals?

Ah Paul Onuachu? lol

... that's gone well. They signed him for £18.6m. Yikes.

34 goals we scored last season , all summer all
we’ve said is how that needs to be improved that is the biggest problem for us right now not hold up play or running the channels
