Transfer Rumour Che Adams

We’re in the teeth of employing the exact same thinking that got us here.

A stopgap, a backup, better than Maupay who was supposedly better than Rondon who probably replaced Sandro or Niasse all the way back to Kone,

If he doesn’t improve or at least compete with our starting number 9 then it’s a backwards step.

If he were signing for Villa or West Ham we would all be bemused, knowing he doesn’t improve them one single place up the table, how can he do for us?

Another 12 million we will not recoup.

12 million plus the money we spent on Chirmitti (who won’t play) plus whatever we’re lobbing at Gnonto (who will score less than Gray). That’s a healthy amount that should have been used to solve our key problem.

The problem is goals.

Semantics.

Lets use your exact quote then;

Would be intrigued who you think we can sign nowadays for that fee?
We need to take a chance on talent from abroad
How much did Brighton pay for Ferguson/Mitoma/Caicedo etc?
Why are we so stuck in an old school mentality? Probably BK
I'd rather we played Chermiti than sign Adams
that's 12mil saved already
If we are going to be stuck with Maupay, a good Championship Striker but terrible PL striker then why buy another?
Paying twice for almost the same level of crud imo
waste of money
I'd actually prefer us to take that 12mil, add it to the supposed 25mil Gnonto money and buy a goalscoring striker
but if not I'd rather we tried the non PL proven Chermiti over the proven they can't do it Adams/Maupay

Nah, nonsense. That's buttons now.

What striker are we getting that vastly improves us for £12/15m?

If I'm Southampton I don't consider £12m because Adams gets you 20 goals in the Championship. He has before, just like Maupay did tbf.
Easily - he's got 2 in 2 (both off the bench) already I think.

We don’t have to accept it. We’re still allowed to complain if, after three transfer windows looking for a striker, we end up with him.
as i said and only my opinion but he is better than nobody and going to deadline day without a striker. if he signs then we support him ? unless i am missing something !

We need to stay in the league this year and that's it, progress later

Can you name any?

For 12/15mil we should be able to get a lot less terrible
Should be. Could be.

Let's be honest. Everton is a hard sell. For 80-90% players of the players the club have signed the last few years it has been a terrible career choice. Currently with a team that is set up mode defensively than any other team in the league. With an old school manager that has hardly improved players the last decade and don't have the roles in his team that top teams are after.

As a striker you will always be measured on goals scored. When you spend 70% of the matches in your own defensive half, it is hard to score goals.

There are strikers out there that easily would score +10 goals for most teams in the league that are not likely to score 5 for this Everton team.

We had Brazil's number 9 and he was hardly ever a goal threat when playing as a 9 for Everton. Calvert-Lewin scored once from open play in 1176 minutes last season.

Dont have a problem with the player as backup. Just dont understand why we didnt pay a bit more last year instead of going for Maupay who never suited us. If we get him for £12-15m we will have spent around £30m on two short term backups. That could have got us 1 better player.

But i get that we had to work in a budget. Just a bit frustrating. I do think he will offer much more than Maupay but its not that hard really.

We had the second highest xG on Saturday after Newcastle
Chance creation has gone way up under Dyche
Calvert Lewin has either been injured or coming back from injury for almost 2 years

All well and good saying Brighton do this and that but their most effective striker until Jan this year was easily Danny Welbeck

The only positive I’ve got is he may be of Maupay quality but at least he suits the style of play we use so he’ll probably get a goal every four or so games which is an improvement but still not really good enough

I guess rather than midtable and building we’re going for ‘being mathematically safe five or six games before the end rather than one or two’
