Transfer Rumour Che Adams

Isn`t Udinese the Southampton of Serie A?

More than work rate and being `a pitbull` as some have said but we do need a big forward to take advantage of set pieces and crosses and make the most out of our wingers.

I`d rather Beto in the middle for our wingers crosses than Adams who is the same size as Maupay... that`s my issue with Adams I`m not saying he is no good but he doesnt fill the Dom role, he can`t. When we play Maupay the whole team needs to go away from the side with DCL in, the exact same will go for Adams, we won`t be able to play the same with DCL or Adams.

With DCL, Beto and Chermitti coming on there is consistency and a proven way of playing that will get us results. just look at the results with Dom and without, that is all the evidence you should need.
Udinese are a mid table Italian side, Southampton just got relegated and have been threatening to go down for years. Look I think we actually both sort of agree but I just wouldn't take the risk.

I'd like the profile of Beto and he could work in our team but the fact is he's an unknown quantity in terms of PL level and he could just as easily be a dismal failure as much as he could be a success. There's just too many examples of even better strikers coming over from Italy and just not cutting it, I don't think we can risk it for how much he'd cost.

Adams isn't as tall as Calvert Lewin but he's the same type of physical player, even Southampton fans say that. We know with him that he's proven his level, it's not great but he's a bottom half PL striker and Scotland international, there have been players that have come over from all European leagues after tearing it up and then play in England where they wouldn't look out of place in a Championship side.

My point of view is for £12m Adams is a player that you get what you pay for at the very least, someone like Beto at £30m+ though, you may not even get that.

Im saying we had £36.8mil+ over a 12month period to sign a cenree forward.

The profile of that player should be u23 and shown they are effective simply to align with building a new team or at worst to have a resale value.

If the player is less then fair enough or slightly outside of the parameters its ok.

But how do you go from El Bilal Toure to Che Adams?

Riddle me that

Its so bizarre...El Bilal Toure to Che Adams is what is fact at the moment. Nonsensical.

But there was a possibly opportunity with Dia and Maupay. Its disappointing.

I think it depends on what the facts are. The only facts we have is that Onana joined and Gnonto wants to join.

We werent rejected by El Bilal for just anyone, it was Atalanta. A top side.

The premier league is a pull so as an almost guaranteed starter im pretty confident we could attract better lol

£36.8mil + Chermiti's add ons.

That buys a single player that provides quality and is effective.

As above, how do we go from El Bilal Toure to Che Adams?

Its a head scratcher.
El Bilal turned us down for a Champions League side, not hard to understand that surely?

And why does the main striker have to be U23?

Just an aside, scouting isn't just teenagers or players from other leagues, scouts gather data and do due diligence on players we've already heard of like Harrison and Adams, and assess if they will fit what we need in the squad, suit how the manager wants to play etc...
That goes both ways though.

Players with options will also do their research. They have agents and advisors. More and more players use third part analytics specialists when they choose what league to play in and for what clubs.

Players have a lot to lose on signing for the wrong club. And Everton seem to be the wrong club for most players they have signed. And Dyche seems to be the wrong manager for players under 27. If you are under 27 and sign for Everton you either do it for the money or you are poorly advised.

Ive said "how do we go from El Bilal to Che Adams"

Meaning: "Two totally different profiles of player".

Ive already written why the player should be u23 and why they dont need to be -- in the post you replied to.

Champions League is so overrated. Yes, it is great to get a few extra matches. Yes, it is great to be able to test yourself against top European opposition. But for half the teams, you get 2 or 3 big matches. That's it.

If you play Premier League, you'll get to play Manchester United twice, Manchester City twice, Arsenal twice, Spurs twice, Chelsea twice and Liverpool twice. That is a much stronger pull than to get to play Nice, Porto and Union Berlin.

What made Atalanta an easy choice for El Bilal Toure is that they have a manager that is good with developing young talents while playing offensive and modern football. That's how dreams are made. That's what make it possible to buy a teenager for 17 million euros and sell him to Manchester United for 80 million ten months later.

Compare that with Everton. A team that plays a football that has nothing in common with how successful teams play in 2023. Players that do well for Everton will not be attractive for other clubs, as the style of play and roles are very different. Everton don't do what successful teams do in training. Everton won't develop top players.

I doubt Everton’s recruitment is anything like that. I have serious concerns that this could be another season without a striker. Its suicidal. Im gonna put Coldplay on and buy a revolver…🙁

Oh goody! Another journeyman, who we will pay double what any sensible club would. You know, the ones who ask “what would Everton do”….

Another one we’ll be stuck with.

We need a new board.

He’s played for 3 professional clubs in 9 years, 2 years at Sheffield United, 3 at Birmingham and 4 full seasons at Southampton (this year’s his 5th)

Adams is what he is. OK. Not good. Not bad. A better fit to style than Maupay if DCL goes down. Might even get something from Maupay by pairing him as second striker next to Adams if/when DCL is out. We cannot buy proven 15+ strikers. If we can add another winger and have more players in the squad who can get 5+ goals we probably raise our baseline a bit vs. last year. Enough? Likely depends on DCL and any points deduction.
