It's obvious that Southampton value him as an important player and it isn't unusual for selling clubs to reject the first bid in any event. I reckon an extra 'sweetener' on top of the £12m should be enough. Certainly I don't really think we should be going beyond £15m personally..

I mean that's your opinion mate, but it's honestly not far off his actual market value considering that Southampton would consider him to be an important player in helping them come straight back up this season it's little wonder why they'd be in no rush to accept the first bid..

To be fair, Maupay did match Richarlison's league goals last season. And he scored as many non-penalty minutes as DCL. All three with similar amount of minutes.

Most strikers would have struggled with goal scoring for Everton last season. We have over the years seen both Richarlison and DCL be wasteful and poor when isolated on top for Everton teams playing without a plan.

Yes, Maupay was a bad fit. That became even worse after Dyche took over as manager. That doesn't mean he is a bad player.

Alvarez at City is a world class striker. World Champion. He'd probably be as lost as Maupay in a Dyche team. Not getting Maupay to shine is mostly about Dyche's shortcomings. Dyche would play Ashley Barnes over Sergio Aguero.

I'd be surprised if not a majority of the managers in PL would choose Maypay over Adams. As he is a much better footballer (that does not mean he should stay or start for Everton).

My worry is that it is probably less than 50% chance for Dyche being Everton manager in 12 months. And it is likely that the next Everton manager will want to play a very different style of football. Not good to sit on too many of these expensive Dyche style players that other teams don't rate or need.

I`m not saying Maupay and Adams wouldn`t work in other teams but both will not fit in with the way we play.

When DCL is out and we play Maupay, everyone moans we cant play the same way. Then we signed Chermitti, although not going to be ready you can see that when he is we can play a similar way to when DCL is in the side.

But then we go in for Adams who is the same size as Maupay, how is this consistent? Surely we will have to change our game between DCL/Chermitti and Adams, Adams won`t be much use from set pieces or crosses from all our new wingers, there is no way he is outjumping the big majority of CBs in this league.

This means we have to constantly change the way we play, no consistency and players can`t get in to a rhythm. We seen which is the way forward last season with some of the results we had as a team with DCL in the side and with Maupay. Don`t get me wrong I think Adams is an upgrade on Maupay but I think a striker with the same profile as DCL & Chermitti is far more beneficial.

Adams was the preferred choice last summer but Saints wanted too much and so they went for Maupay.
