Transfer Rumour Che Adams

No, I mean plenty of players (eg Holgate) have clauses in their contract where their salary increases each year.

That’s how Holgate has wound up on such a ridiculous salary

Partially, but we also offered him a ridiculous new contract.

But yes, he may have had a 10% increase each year (which does happen) and would get us from say 40k to £58k pw. But there's also very likely a relegation clause which is probably underpinning why he would consider/push for a move.

I can't see a world though, where Southampton gave a lad probably on under 10k p/w a contract that would be worth 90k at any point at the age of 23. There may have been a world where if he did well they would have extended it to that, if that makes sense.

But yes, I can imagine 50/60k p/w will be the number he is after.

This smells of faff around and then give up and go for beto etc on the last few days only for no-one to want to do business so late in the window as they would need a replacement. Clockwork.
Southampton are prepared to lose Adams. Into his last year of the contract and started both league matches on the bench. Did play and captain a second string team that lost to Gillingham in the league cup.

Maybe just offer £12m + an extra £3m if we stay up this season or something?
We will drag this out and pay nearly £20m for a £10m player... this situation smacks of the Maupay scenario last season where we had to just buy who was available and over the odds.

On the playing side, not what we need, I think alot of supporters see us signing a striker and they fall in love with whoever we sign, I remember getting stacks when we signed Maupay saying he was useless and loads were pointing out he only needed to replace Richys goals.

He was useless and again I was right, those that were wrong won`t own up because they will look stupid.

I was right then and I am again now, Adams should not be signing for EFC, wrong type of player and lacks the required qualities. Yes he will work hard, lots of our players do but I have seen teams go down every year that `work hard` but they don`t have quality to go with that and that is the type of squad Everton are in danger of building.

We won’t, we’ve more than likely offered under £10m so we’ll go back with £10m with addons and that’ll do it

Say's it all, my heart sank, again, when this link came up.

Symbolic of how far we have fallen.
