Worst thing about this 'glorious' defeat is the amount of utter boll@cks Martinez will come out with. Defending phenomenally etc, everythings brilliant, we are were we want to be, performances are excellent, players heroes, blah de blah de blah!!

"Perfect away performance" no doubt

Deflected off Naismith, otherwise it's right at him and he has his body behind it.

This. Watch the replay, Howard is sliding to get his body behind the ball and the deflection takes it inside the post. Howard had a couple good saves in the second half.

How Ivanovic doesn't see red for his choke hold, followed by head butt on McCarthy, is maddening. Hope the FA watch that and give him a 3 game ban which he deserves

Didn't think we would even get a point before the game. Played hard and lost on a deflection at the death. I'll take that performance all day long. Look for Everton to kick on from here.

People slating Rom, I personally thought he ran them ragged just didn't have any support.

Ross has been 'Englished' his natural talent and his gift of running at defenders has been coached out of him, it is an absolute disgrace!

Really? All I've seen is us parking the bus in every game. We've scored 1 goal in the last 4 games ffs. He has managed to turn us from a team consistently in the top 7, to a team who is only 5 points off the relegation zone with only 13 games left.

I didn't see a bus parked tonight. We don't have a tough run after Arsenal and don't see United until the end of April, at home. We'll be fine.

We're basically in autopilot till the end of the season in the league now , nothing to play for. We'll get the few wins needed for safety easily.

Not too bothered about results as long as we show improvement for next year.
I wouldn't say we're safe yet based purely on our lack of goals and our proximity towards the bottom of the league, however we're improving.

So as you mention, I think this season will most likely 'peter out' towards safety and then become as a testing ground for some Bobby's ideas.

However, I'm concerned that too many people simply see this season as a blip: just a poor season. We cannot have another season like this.

We've improved over the past few games compared to December, but we're still a far way off on our play and scoring goals.

I understand the reason some are cry arsing there kecks off but to [Poor language removed] that performance off is frigging daft, We could have easily won tonight against the best side in the country

December the nightmare month that ruined our season
Thought we played brilliantly tonight myself, if Cech doesn't make either of those wonder saves no one's having a moan right now but rather talking about how the tactics were spot on.
Cannot blame Howard for the goal at all. It was a good shot and going through three players legs is just not acceptable. One of them has to block it, otherwise they've just obstructed Howard's view for absolutely nothing and it's going in.

Apart from the fact that he slapped the ball to their goalscorer, rather than caught or cleared it
While I'd normally agree with you (because one of the things that really annoys me about Howard is his lack of catching the ball) there were quite a few players in the way and if he went for the catch and dropped it, it would be a certain goal. With the referee being as he was, I wouldn't have counted on him to call a foul on Howard.

"
 • Into the last 20 minutes. On the one hand Everton should be dead and buried, but on the other they could easily be ahead. How Romelu Lukaku failed to score that chance is a mystery to everyone inside Stamford Bridge."
What a strange BBC comment. I must've missed all those incredibly clear cut Chelsea chances. We had the best chance of the game and two other decent ones.

what is going on , we played well lids against a club who has money to burn on players, is clear at the top of the premiership, got a lucky goal at the death, and we're bitching......beyond belief, same happened there last year , bet our reaction was different then...

bit of a reality check needed if losing one nil is a disaster for us, I actually think if we play like that in Europe , we'll give any side in that competition a game, unlucky blues.

I tell you why I am unhappy.

Our record signing missed what I consider to be a sitter.

Then with three minutes to go our whole team gets involved in a fracas which leads to the magnificent concentration we showed all through the game being broken, the worst example of a card collector we have ever had at the club is sent off and voila....the inevitale late gial is conceeded.

Yes we were a touch unlucky to lose.....but we didn't need to lose there tonight.

No matter how much money they burned on players.

Agree with you about zeurooe though......plal like that in Berne and we have a chance.

There was three times when the defence expected Howard to come for the cross and each time Stones or Jags bollocked him.
Its because they built up a trust in Joel coming for them through thick and thin.

Thats unacceptable and the very reason why he shouldn't have played.

Too scared to come and claim the ball for the goal.
Fact if Joel plays he claims that all day long and the goal doesnt go in.

Fuming tonight with Martinez in particular for bringing him back in.

Hardly ever see Howard coming for crosses and when he does usually cocks up, prefers to sit back on the line.
