Can't believe we lost in last minute
Oh hang on...yes I can

Can't believe Lukaku missed a sitter
Oh hang on...yes I can

Can't believe Gareth Barry got sent off for another stupid foul
Oh hang on...yes I can

Bloody hell fire I'm fed up of this

I really can't say anything bad about Howard (and I was fuming that Joel was dropped straight away for him). He played extremely well.

As for history, there's a club across the park which is really enthusiastic about it.

Re: Howard- maybe I'm being harsh- he was fine throughout. Just that goal had a whiff of some of his earlier 'attempts' at saves this season. Kneejerk from me perhaps though.

As far as the Liverpool reference goes- my disdain for Chelsea comes from the fact that their fans (all of the ones I've spoken to anyway) seem to have no appreciation for what they had before Abramovic. At least Man City had decent support before their money arrived (decent crowds when in Div 2.) Chelsea fans just seem arrogant and lack class- hence my 'history' jibe. Given one of our most popular chants is also 'Grand old team'- I would say we're pretty enthusiastic about ours too, rightly so.

Just unlucky tonight.

Good to see us put in another strong defensive display. It wasn't long ago I didn't think we'd be capable.

Concerns again over the final third though. Barkley/Naismith/Mirallas/Lennon. They need to do more.

Thought Barkley's work rate was pretty poor tonight.

Yep. Goes to show that we CAN defend as a team.

As for Barkley...his confidence is gone.

The lad that asked for the ball every second isn't there anymore. He doesn't want the ball.

He looks like one of them players similar to Ozil for example. When its right, its great. When its not, they aren't doing much.

If we had really gone for it we would have been spanked tonight, but they will feel un lucky so that won't dent their confidence much.

Haha, this exact attitude was derided on here 12 months ago as defeatist talk but now it's acceptable once again. Funny old game football.

Any kind of result for us would of been a bonus but at times we had everybody behind the ball and it wasn't nice to see. It's all good and well defending really well for so long but if you aren't offering anything at the other end the ball is just going to keep coming back.

We got badly boxed it at the end, flooded our own box and in the end we've been beaten by a deflection.

To be honest I preferred it last year when we attacked other teams away from home. We might of fell short in the end but I tell you what it was some of the best stuff I've seen us play in years.

We didn't have any chance's to score then?

so everyone moans about barkley not being in the team then moan when he gets in the team? ffs. Everyone would have had pitchforks out before the match if barkley wasn't in the lineup and now he was, they still moan

It's a balanced assessment.

We're at home in the derby, an opportunity to build some momentum and get the confidence up, and he plays 3 DM's. We're away at Chelsea, top of the league won practically every game at home, and he plays 2 DM's. The teams should have been in reverse. Surely anyone can agree with that?
