I think people pointing at the lack of a goalscorer as the reason we haven't scored are slightly off the mark. The reason we're looking effective in the final without a cutting edge is because Naysmith is being deployed as a deep attacker - he's dropping in to link up the play rather than standing on the last man looking for headers and through balls. If you swapped him for an out and out striker we probably wouldn't look as composed in possession and we wouldn't be in their half nearly as much.

You can't have it all...

It's more than that. If Lukaku plays there's more to his game. He'll drop, he'll get in the box, he'll work the last defender. Like a good striker.

Naismith doesn't have all that, especially against a Chelsea defence.

Considering who the opposition is we have played excellent. We are turning into a pain in the ar*se for the top clubs because we have a good defence but are now capable of keeping possession for long periods preventing them dominating us. Yes we lack a bit of guile and a genuine goalscorer but they cost money which we haven't got. The future looks bright.
