Just looking at the stats from the game. We had 8 shots. Two were on target from outside the area. Three were blocked inside the area. Two went well wide from inside the area. And one went wide from outside the area.

They had 25 shots in total. 8 were on target and half of those were inside the area.

It's odd that we should control so much of the ball and yet they had more than three times as many shots as us.

Also NINE corners - we do not look like scoring from any corner at the moment our 2 centre backs have not scored one as far back as I can remember any idea when an EFC centre back scored from a set pieces as in a header?

The deliveries rarely beat the first man. Maybe we work on freekicks in training but not really corners? With Baines' deadball deliveries and the likes of Distin, Lukaku and Jagielka to get on the end of them we should at least be getting shots on target.

Stats from last season show that we scored 6 goals from corners.

Jagielka vs Spurs last season? the 2-2 draw.

That is the point, according to Roberto we had a cracking game, controlling the play??? How come then they 3 times as many shots as we had.

Myopic bias on our fans and Martinez's part. Nothing about the performance was cracking, it was a decent display at best with extremely poor play in the final third.

April 7th 2013. Jagielka v Spurs...although on May 5th 2013 Distin scored against Liverpool but it was disallowed for some arbitrary reason

Agree totally. We played with a measure of composure until we got into an attacking situation...then we lacked any edge. Identical to Spurs game.

Distin and Jags are actually awful in the air. I've noticed this when both attacking and defending

Agree with this, although it's not just the Spurs game. At West Brom we controlled the first half - but managed to score - and fell away in the second half. Has happened several times this season - Arsenal another example. We need to make our superiority count when we are on top and improve our second half performances away from home. Defensively we are sound - only Chelsea have conceded fewer - but if we can't score we leave ourselves open to losing games we should have won.

Bring back corners that don't edge me ever so closer to suicide. lol

But yeeah, I also think we should start playing it short more. Our corners have been dire this season.
Feels like we've scored a few goals from short corners. Spurs away we played none; all awful. Chelsea away we played one and fashioned our best chance from it, the rubbishy Jagielka header.
