Pickford the only one to come out of that well in credit imo. A Chelsea win was always certain after Godfrey's deflected own goal just a matter of by how many.

Every keeper makes mistakes in the prem, Alisson every match, Pope let a poor one through against Arsenal, Ederson got a good hand to Bruno's pen. Pickford kept it to two it could have been five or six

Just out of interest who do you think we could realistically attract to replace one of the premier league’s top scorers. I thank he needs support myself, not replacing.
That’s a great question, I’m not sure but I didn’t expect us to get James so you never know who Carlos could attract here.

Big picture - if Godfrey wasn't in the way and Pickford would have looked up and realized that that through ball was going to Havertz which meant he could have just stood on his line b/c there's no way he is ever going to score, Chelsea would have had zero chance of scoring in this game.

Going forward we weren't great, but a lot of guys injured, Chelsea not giving up a home goal in forever, etc, just forget this game and move on. Hopefully James can play in it

Chelsea could do an Everton under martinez. Like when we smashed Arsenal 3 nil but they ended up grinding out wins and clipping us for fourth.

It's a pity Chelsea came back on a run recently otherwise we might have had a a chance to sneak in. Arsenal, spurs, koppites will be all gung ho next season for more competition but as you say we aren't there yet
4 or 5 quality signings is a must in the summer if we are going to try and get top 4 next season. I think those signings will come. That would mean we get rid of some of the dross we have to watch each week, they are what’s holding us back.

Bit of an air of inevitability about that tonight, couldn't complain about the effort/workrate but just lacking that little bit of stardust/quality in the final third, could say a deflection and a penalty did for us but in truth Pickford had an outstanding game, hopefully Doucoure and James may feature at the weekend, still a big opportunity for us to kick on in the next three league games I think.

That has shown just how far away from the top end of the table we really are. Hopefully that's a reality check for anyone giving it the big one about our players being boss and blaming Carlo. At best we're the 7th or 8th best squad on paper, at a push. Carlo is working wonders with this squad that we're even thinking about top 4 and likely to get Europa. Even with injuries taken into consideration we still need about 5 or 6 quality players in.
