He's a lunatic, but he's not wrong. What's the strongest reminder and greatest indictment in the whole screed?

This club used to win stuff, you know.

Imagine that. It's not easy to do right now.
One more thing, too. It never gets so bad it can't get worse. Change for change's sake won't get us out of this bog.
Sort it. Try logical thinking and reason this time instead of simply spending like a lottery winner in Vegas. Stupid people with money are still stupid people.

Good job. It skips over the Moyes era though. We were Everton then. Cup final, Europe, sticking it to monied teams (in the way both monied and non-monied teams now stick it to us - with discipline, fight, skill).

Mosh and the Oligarch have not destroyed Everton - they invested. And we'll have an amazing ground. Let's face the facts this club has lost only two qualities which are part of the post Moyes era decline:

- grit and organisation
- creating better youth

Dyche could well see us stay up (first box ticked)
Not sure how to address the second part - but there's a lot of ex-Everton in our set-up and maybe that's a problem. Love is blind. Maybe we go Brentford and moneyball it for a while.
Fair shout. The Moyes years were certainly more relatable and from a place of goodwill after what Moyes rescued us from (times of desolation similar to now) but I mark it down because it could have been so much more and we didn’t win anything. Just to explain my rationale, which is probably flawed as it often is.

Definately one of the best previews I've read so far, captured the mood perfectly, not a line I disagreed with - and at the end much like Everton left me feeling sad and lost.

"I am however a compassionate Evertonian who sees really good people who are devoted to Everton in genuine pain."

Come on @chicoazul you couldn't have written that !

Fabulous read amigo.

Brilliant first class preview @chicoazul . Honestly moved me in a way I can imagine some film starting with a child at an old wooden school desk rocking back and forth in their own little world whilst reading Hemingway or James Joyce for the first time. You get it and have a means to explain what it feels like to be an Everonian in this modern shitty world like nobody else out there. Whilst on here you're a parody of multis and your balloon sized head, in reality you're a genius beyond your years. Honestly that preview should be buried beneath the centre circle at Goodison when/if we move so, centuries on, the world can know what it was like.

I hate Everton now for what we are. There isn't really a club I'm aware of with the same sense of despair and despondency. We were once great, we were once proud and now we've just ended up with the worst of everything - a fat, deluded overpriced squad and a fanbase split amongst factions where only a small percentage still get it. There is no positive to where we are now or likely to end up. And we'll be dragged along like a rotting corpse of a fanbase til one day we too are gone.

Well said Charlie. I fear that the Everton I loved has gone forever and I'm not just taliking about a lack of success on the field. Kenwright and Moshiri have sucked the life out of our once great club. We used to mean something , stand for something , now we are a laughing stock. And, Barrett-Baxendale too is compicit due to incompetance and self interest and will never rock the boat,

You just made me blush you monster.

Thanks mate, made up you read it never mind got something out it.

All five of my brothers send their very best regards to you but not to Geordies mate.

And nice one. That anything I writes resonates with one other blue then sincerely it’s worth the time sat down writing them. Up the toffs.
Have you got a sister called Mila; very interesting twitter feed she has...

Loved it! Needed it!
- 'but as a hedonistic soul I sort of prefer that to having to date a pyjama wearing orange sprayed skin aggressively eye-browed fascist occasional mating partner dominating all areas of my life.' ?

Never felt so emotional reading a match preview. Yes to everything that you so eloquently lay-out in describing the life of an Evertonian. We have all had enough of football as it is today. It is entirely alien to us mere mortals and we’re all sick of it. But with that sickness is that yearning to feel part of a collective group of fans who support a club we know could be so much more. Big Nev had it right when he mocked a top 6 place as not being enough for Everton. We know this is so far off right now but it doesn’t mean we should accept what we have been served up for the last 3 decades. Your writing describes so much of how we all feel and we need you to replace ‘good times’ Bill as Chairman of this great club! COYB
