Ah, I read he got clean in 2008 or so. Guess they do say you are never cured.

He cleaned up many times. No idea if he fell off the wagon. Autopsy should tell us that when they release it.

Crazy isn't it; how you can have literally no idea. I mean, not us obviously but if anyone he knew personally had the slightest idea then the concert wouldn't have even happened.

He posted this message earlier in the day, doesn't read like a man about to do something like that. I guess something must have snapped. (Altho could have been in his head for ages but never showed it) I feel so sorry for his kids, I hope they learn to come to terms with what has happened and won't blame themselves or think that is their fate too in the way that Bobbi Kristina Brown did.

I've seen the knock on effect that families have had to deal with and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Such a shame he felt this was his only option when maybe if he had reached out to someone, wife/kids/friend or parents it may have been enough to get over that momentry madness to then go and seek professional help.

He's struggled with addiction since he was like 13 years old. Perhaps he'd just had enough.

At least there's 30+ years of music to enjoy.

I'm so gutted I never got to see Soundgarden live. Pure talents like Chris don't come around too often in a generation.

RATM were an utter abomination of a band. A complete embarrassment who make RHCP seem acceptable.

Both bands had great guitarists though.

Completely true that, they were the most prominent of the first wave of grunge bands. Their streak of albums from 1990-1996 are among some of the greatest ever written.

And stone temple pilots, mother loves bone etc etc..

Grunge me, through and through. Although a lot don't class pearl jam as grunge..

Pearl Jam deffo are grunge, one of the greats as well. Or at least from the album Ten up to about 1996 are, a lot of their post-90s stuff is quite anonymous.

When Zack announced he was going solo, I had worries about how the Rage guys would replace him. I mean, who could replace Zack???? Was this the end of Rage??

Then the rest of the guys eventually announced Chris Cornell would be doing vocals for them under a new name of Audioslave, and suddenly I was no longer worried.

Chris god damn Cornell.

Couldn't get in to Audio Slave. Love Rage and Soundgarden though...
