Chris Hughton sacked

Newcastle fans are seething right now. 99 out of 100 were fully behind Hughton and were delighted with what he had achieved (stabilised club, walked the CCC, for a promoted team a good start to the season.) I don't think 'hate' adequately describes their feelings towards Ashley at the moment.

You'd have to be desperate to take that job, which is probably why Pardew is the leading candidate.

I bet Joe Kinnear has a contract that says, when he's fit to manage again he'll take over at Newcastle.

I would not be surprised by that at all. hahah

Who are deluded?

Even the Geordie fans aren't that stupid to think that Hughton had to go. Runs away with the Championship, respectable start to the season brings stability coaching a team with a bunch of headcases (mission impossible). Feeling a little better about staying up today.

Obviously there has been some behind-the-scenes stuff - my main guess is Hughton rebelled regarding the terms of his new contract and Ashley stupidly forced him towards the exit door and was looking for any excuse to get rid. Bear in mind Peter Beardsley, who has surprisingly been consistently singing the praises of the Ashley regime (something very few people connected to Newcastle have done) was appointed reserve team manager - specifically against what Hughton wanted. In a way, Hughton was doomed, despite practically turning the club down and producing a solid start to the season, in terms of a newly promoted side, and being seemingly a thoroughly likeable bloke to boot.

I can assure you Newcastle fans were unequivocally behind Hughton and are livid that this has happened. Being in the area, the overriding emotion is one of disbelief that at a time where finally their club was looking fairly stable, something like this has come along.

I suppose the conclusion you have to make is, it's a victory for the tee-doubleyou-ey-tees in football. Another promising manager given a scandalous lack of time and forced out.

Pardew's the next Newcastle manager btw, if many, many strong rumours are to be believed. Paperwork pretty much already done.

You can't even blame it on their support, they're fuming too.

Really weird decision that.

It's the expectation they've built up for themselves over the last 15 years that's got him fired, they may be gutted now, but they created the uproar when they acted like total blerts.
I think I'll be giggling for a while after this. Incidentally, I'd have Houghton over Round right now.
