I'm going to speak to the priest and recommend he sets up a little car booty and bric-a-brac stall at the back of church to get the punters in.
Turns out the adhan calls are actually for car boots

I remember them days, a happier time, sometimes called rolex's.I went to an orthodox catholic Ukrainian wedding once, it went on for hours. the English side has no idea was going on but luckily the priest was pretty entertaining. There were crowns and all sorts
Same thing happened to me used to get dragged to church when I was younger went off and on as I got older , went threw a major health issue and although it sounds strange started going to church again and very rare miss it now , you do get a strange peace from it and anything that gets you threw then I recommend it , thing is though some people can get a bit to deep where if they miss they think they’ve done something wrong same with all that buying their way into heaven , it can consume some peoplePlease don’t turn this into some mad religious thread… it’s just a general question.
I texted a mate earlier to see how he’s doing as he’s recovering from a recent operation. He told me he’s on the mend and was able to go to church this morning with the assistance of his sister who drove him there. Now, we’ve been friends for almost 35 years and I’ve never known him to go to church before but in conversation he told me he’s been going to church 2 or 3 times a week for the past 3 months. He has had recent struggles with depression and alcohol but said he finds inner peace and comfort when he’s at church and hasn’t felt the need for alcohol at all. So, my question really is do you go to church ? Do any of your friends or family go to church and do you think it’s a place where you can find some level of peace and happiness?
I know a few folk who are religious and/or go to church (or other religious institution). Please don’t turn this into some mad religious thread… it’s just a general question.

This. They knew how to build back then.On a personal level, I love old churches or cathedrals when empty. They're just great, quiet places for reflection and thought (and I'm not at all religious).
Sorry @Nymzee, I obviously never wrote this jokeI saw Moses at a car boot sale two weeks ago …. He came down the hill in his Triumph

Probably been inside a church maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 60 years. Religion is just not for me.Please don’t turn this into some mad religious thread… it’s just a general question.

piousness*Probably been inside a church maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 60 years. Religion is just not for me.
Many church goers are in my experience hypocritical. Their show of piosity (is that even a word?) is often not reflected in the way they live their every day lives.
Having said that, I recognise that it does play an important part in many peoples lives. If your mate is finding benefit from it then good for him.
I had to check after that lolpiousness*
Belter thread, it's produced pieosity. I'm in!
