Nah. I think 1-1 would have been on the cards, the comical lack of confidence from Barkley and McGeady giving goals away is evidence of that.Cisse off and us 1-0 up would have guaranteed a victory for us.
I dont care whether they ban him or not now. It matters not one bit to us.
But they wouldn't have been lacking in confidence a goal to the good and a man extra with HT on the horizon.Nah. I think 1-1 would have been on the cards, the comical lack of confidence from Barkley and McGeady giving goals away is evidence of that.
I hate to say it, as I don't like the idea, but we're not nasty enough on the pitch. I've played Sunday football mainly in Cheshire and Manchester, and have always hated coming up against Scouse teams. Great blokes off the pitch, but on the pitch they are always the gobbiest, narkiest, hardest and most committed opponents I've seen - which is great if it's your team. Everton are currently more like the soft teams that I play for, IT professionals, estate agents and accountants. We look like a joy to play against, and no-one is frightened of us any more. I despise that horrible no-forehead no 8 across the park as much as anyone, but we need a captain who can get in the ref's face the whole game like he does, and we need to be generally less nice and mix it up a bit. We seem to be bullied every week. We were physically battered by West Ham, Stoke and Sitteh recently, and no-one on the pitch seems to be bothered by it. I didn't see the elbow on Coleman yesterday from up in the gods, but no-one seemed to make a fuss about that. Eto'o is the only one who'll have a word with the ref and acts like a captain, although from the stands he looks to be very polite and reasonable.
For some reason MOTD try to make us look horrible, highlighting Barry's stupid yellow card every week - it seems he's become a real animal since he joined us, and must have picked up his 100 bookings in the last season and a half, since no-one mentioned it when he was at Sitteh. If they're going to give us a nasty reputation, we may as well go out and earn it.
So, the FA decide to retrospectively ban Cissé. Newcastle lose him for three games but still keep the 3 points in a game where Cissé scored their equalizer and was handy afterwards.
Would it be fairer to play the game again, or disallow goal(s) or goals where the banned player had an assist?
I know you could argue that we were woeful and probably didn't deserve anything out of the game, but take Cissé out the equation, and Newcastle down to ten men, and a goal down, we may well have got an important win that may or may not have injected some confidence that the team is desperately short of.
Thoughts?
