I’m going for a long weekend next week for the first time and wondering if anyone has any tips for things to do or places to eat and drink. Going in completely blind so could do with some guidance.

City centre mad busy and expensive.
Leith is nice. Some good bars. (Like the Brass Monkey and Tourmalet myself) Can take a nice walk from the museum of modern art down to leith via the water of leith. Stockbridge is nice on the way but bit posh.
Give @chicoazul a shout and he might get the train in and you can toot some DMT behind some dustbins on Rose street

Dean village nice to walk around as well and away from the crowds a bit.

Get on the bus tour.
Holyrood is tiny btw.
Swerve the tourist shops,pisstake prices.
It's full of tourists who have no manners.
Hope you like pipers,there's plenty.
The castle is expensive to visit.
Just drive across to Glasgow plenty to do there.

More English there than Scots if I remember correctly.

Innis & Gun is a class little craft beer spot, had a good time in there.

Trams for some parts. Bus service is very easy to use also. Good double deckers for sight seeing

i used to work for Edinburgh Crystal, a firm with a near-150 year history but went forever bust a few years ago. Went to their HO a few times in Penicuik. Met a few Edinburgh folk during those times...gentle scots folk. None of that Glaswegian harshness.

Reminded me of Surrey peoples.
