I've just seen this quote from Clattenberg on ESPN FC.

"Jurgen Klopp is wrong to suggest there is an aura around Manchester United that sees them given favorable decisions.
There used to be when Fergie was there, but that has eased massively since he left. I am the only referee to give three
penalties to the opposition at Old Trafford, and that was for Liverpool, of all teams, in 2014. But David Moyes was
manager - I'm not sure that would have happened when Fergie was there!"

Pick the bones out of that.

From what I witnessed at THAT Derby he has forgotten to say that betting scams or other financial contributions may also influence decisions.

So its not 'wrong to suggest' it, since he openly admits there previously has been.

Should be a scandal but it will be swept under the rug of course.

When you break it down it's incredible. Probably the highest profile referee from 2005 until he left, writing about being under the influence of a single manager.

He was probably the strongest minded of the refs at the time & good knows how big an impact he had on others.

Coincidentally - on the back these comments Mike Riley's performance at Old Trafford for the 50 unbeaten game between United and Arsenal in 2005 surfaced on twitter- it's 9 mins long and with hindsight, it is probably the most incredible refereeing of all time.

I'll share a link if im allowed

Surprise, surprise, the pens went to liverpool, never change Mark, never change, can only think liverpool gave him track suits as well as kits that year. Still say it the Clattenburg derby was the most fixed game, by the bentest ref, I've ever seen.

How i despise this crook.

He forgot to add the addendum that the only reason he gave 3 penalties at Old Trafford was because Stevie Me said he would do unspeakable things to him if he did.

That derby will live long in the memory and with the Moyes comments after the game, the lack of Everton games reffed for so long and even longer to actually get another game at Goodison showed the world that the FA, Premier League, Refs association all knew that he threw that game.

I'd like to see the link if possible.

There was a game at goodison last game of season where we had to beat the mancs to qualify for Europe.

We lost 2-1 and Rooney missed about 50 sitters but the pen Riley gave them was a disgrace. RVN was stood in front if Weir or Stubbs and before he had even began to simulate a dive the ref had his whistle in his gob. Our players just were in shock.

Of someone can find the pen as it may have been a pen but it just looked like he fell to the floor for no reason
